It is seen that the white flowers -like Jasmin open up only in the night and not during day time. It is mysteriuos

This effect is related to the fact that they are pollinated by night insects.


Flower clocks are good only during sunny weather. Periodicity of opening and closing of flowers and inflorescences depends not only from nature conditions but from place of plant vegetation. In fact the same species differently show opening times in Sweden and near the Moscow.

Reply:Bright colours of the flowers is only to attract insects, but during night the colours will not serve the purpose so the flowers which blossom at night are white to overcome this such flowers as strong smell.

The plants / flowers are pollinated by insects that are nocturnal ( They are on the wings and move about only during the night time just like some animals and some birds ).





To attract them during their flight these flowers bloom during the night time . Moreover they do not waste energy on attractive colors as these will be invisible .





Instead they have heavenly fragrance !!!





So one is astonished by this insect flower relationship .
Reply:Not sure what kind of "jasmin" you are referring to, or what its pollinator is, but I can at least give you one possibility.White is the color most visible at night. Some white flowers open at night to attract moths, which fly at night, as pollinators.
