Does anyone have a picture of a red cake with white roses?

My colors are red and white. The only flowers I have are red and white roses. I want a cake that is red, not bright red but a deeper red like a red rose. Thanks!

Does anyone have a picture of a red cake with white roses?
Hope this helps! =)
Reply:Not exactly what you are asking for but one it red with white flowers and the other is beautiful red and white.

Daisies for wedding flowers in end of July/begining of August? With red and white as wedding colors?

I love daisies! They are my favorite flower and they have them all over my parents land growing wild and very pretty. My mom wants to make my flowers for the back home reception for my destination wedding to save money. She used to work at a flower shop. How well do you think this would work with red and white as the wedding colors? Or at this time of the summer?

Daisies for wedding flowers in end of July/begining of August? With red and white as wedding colors?
I think daisies are great, especially if you like them. My wedding was in the beginning of July, and I had Gerbera Daisies in my bouquet. I loved my flowers and got many compliments on them. The daisies were the flowers that were showcased in my bouquet, and were highlighted by ivy (which stands for marriage) and then other flowers with colors that coordinated with the bridesmaids dresses.
Reply:I love daisies as well! I plan to carry a bouquet of multi-colored Gerbera daisies as well as some regular white-and-yellow daisies at my wedding. I think you should use regular white daisies with a few bright red Gerbera daisies mixed in as your flowers, to match your wedding colors. I think late summer is the very best time to have daisies as your wedding flower. To me they are just so innocent and lovely. Good luck!
Reply:I'm a fellow daisey lover...and that includes a daisey-look-a-like flower, gallardia or indian blanket flower.....I have them both planted in my flower bed...the daisies are 'Broadway Lights'...they open up into a pale buttery yellow but then soften to a creamy white.....my gallardias are 'Arizona Sun'-a bright red %26amp; orangey-yellow and "Oranges%26amp; Lemons'-the name reflects the citrus-y colors....

Daisies would look great in a white %26amp; red bouquet.....I would look into Mums as well-they do come in daisey-look alikes but are very petal lush...painted daisies as well can add a splash of color.....gebera are over-done right now but they are an option......and this is daisey season...mine are in over-drive right now...good luck.
Reply:daisies are one of my favorite flowers, too...you can definitely use them, just mix them with some red colored wildflowers, and the bouquet will look great...
Reply:I think they would look cute! Especially if you kind of went with a country style wedding reception.
Reply:Sounds very pretty.... I would stick to all those colors... it is perfect for the summer.
Reply:I think it would be fine for your reception back home... and it will save you money too. You could always order some red flowers from Sams or CostCo to add in to keep your color scheme
Reply:i think ti will be great, especially since they are your favorite

I am planning my wedding and my colors are silver white and black. Any tips on flowers?
Your welcome:) Report It

Reply:I might soften this color scheme. It's becoming popular to have bridesmaids wear black, but white and silver with this will look a little garish. Unless you're careful, red flowers will make it look like your prom.

Sterling roses are beautiful and are kind of a silvery lavender. Mixing this with some ivory flowers and lots of greenery would look classy. For brighter flowers, deep purple dendrobium orchids are a terrific bright purple.

Accenting your flowers with pewter napkins, ribbons, etc. instead of silver would also soften the look.
Reply:You could throw in a splash of color and do red. But, who says you have to use flowers? If it's a nighttime wedding, your bridesmaids could carry candles. If it's outdoors, they could carry parasols. Or they could use beautiful folding fans if it's inside. Have fun with it.
Reply:lillies
Reply:If you would be willing to throw some color into that...throw some deep red roses...the contrast would be beautiful. But if you are interested in keeping with the silver, white, and black theme...I would go for white roses.

Sounds very formal.

Congratulations!
Reply:What color dresses are the girls wearing? I am assuming black.

Did you by any chance see the "My Fair Brady" where they got married? She had a blackand white wedding and she used roses that were a very deep dark red, absolutely beautiful. But I would only suggest this for an evening/night wedding, those colors are too heavy for a daytime wedding.
Reply:hmmm if i were you i'd either go for some fake black silk flowers which i think would look really classy or otherwise some white lilies which would bring a bit of pink in as well i would imagine..

i dont think roses would suit it as the colours you have chosen are quite dramatic and over power the delicate flower whereas the lilies have 'sharper' petals and make more of a statement..

have a lovely wedding x
Reply:calla lillies... but i wouldn't go with black.... black is more for a funeral.
Reply:Calla lilies, gladiolas, orchids, white roses would all be really elegant, especially if left long on the stem and tied with silver and black ribbons (except gladiolas, which really don't have long stems). All but the white roses are fairly expensive, though, just to warn you. I really like the other idea about the fans, parasols, candles et all too..
Reply:Those are some beautiful classic colors so simple petite flowers would look wonderful. There are quite a few shades of pink roses that would look great with some white den. orchids, pink wax ( its a tiny waxy flower that smells amazing ) lizianthis (spelling sorry) and calla lillies. Adding in tea roses with the larger roses always look very delicate and pretty too!
Reply:you have nice colors...hmm I'd say white flowers because that's only color out of the colors you have that seems reasonable. I would go with a deep read color though and mix it with the black. I mean surround the red flowers with the black color items. Flowers wise, I love roses or carnations, but lilies may work too.best wishes!!!!!

I have flowers that are dying. How can I bring them back?

The flowers are "White Pearl" Hyacinth (turning brown), and Viola(wilting). the flowers are for my wedding in 1 weak. they are in pots right now, but I would Like to Plant them Before the Wedding. Is it a lost cause?

I have flowers that are dying. How can I bring them back?
Usually when there's a wedding the flourist brings in fresh flowers for that day, within a couple of hours prior to the wedding. I've never heard of home flowers being in pots for a wedding. I suggest you call the flourist. No you can't bring back leaves or flowers that have turned brown. They could be brown either because it's getting hotter and sooner outdoors these days, or it could have been either lack of water or too much water.
Reply:For the one that is wilting, try putting it in a sink of cold water, not too high of course. I had wilting plants before and that brought them back to life. I'm not sure about the one that is turning brown. It might work to if there is any green left on it. P.S- I don't have a green thumb!! But soaking the plants in the sink seemed to work. Maybe it was because they were getting water from the roots up, instead of the other way around,

How do you use White Flower balm?

I love this stuff. On the temples for a headache %26amp; sinuses; in the bath to inhale for a cold, on the skin for muscles aches (along with Tiger Balm). Its even great to sprinkle some on kleenex or cloth to breathe in on air planes etc.

Would it be approptiate to have an ALL white wedding everyone wearing white?

I am thinking that it would be wonderful to have an all white wedding. This includes white dresses for bridesmaids, white flowers, etc. Is this okay or is the tradition that only the bride wears white still holding true even today?

Would it be approptiate to have an ALL white wedding everyone wearing white?
I say go for it. So what if it's not traditional? I kind of love that idea. ALLLLL white or would you have have some bold accent color?
Reply:Your wedding, your day, you have all the say.

If a person can have a STAR WARS wedding, or an underwater wedding, or dance the THRILLER dance at the wedding, why can't YOU have an all WHITE wedding?
Reply:There's not really such a thing as 'appropriate' any more. At one time, the idea of bridesmaids wearing black was considered horrifying. It's pretty common now.

White is definitely unusual but it is not inappropriate. Who knows? You could start a new trend!
Reply:you can do whatever you want for your wedding....there are no rules as to what people HAVE to wear...i think that would be awesome seeing as how not many people do that so it would be cool and might start a new trend
Reply:ummm i guess its okay but u should tell your wife first cuz she may want to be the only one wearing white
Reply:my cousin and his wife had an all white wedding - the men in white tuxes the girls in white gowns and flowers in all white. the bride and groom looked the same as everyone else, in fact it was difficult to tell who was who when they all had white on.

all white attire is not my favourite - i think there is nothing sexier than a man in a black tux! i also think the bride should stand out in the wedding party - hence her wearing white and everyone else in colors.

whatever you choose have a great wedding.
Reply:I have heard of those. THe bride is supposed to stand out, but you still will even if veryone else is wearing white. If you love the idea, go for it.

You cannot tell people what to wear though. YOu can let them know what it is (I think there are a few terms though I don't know them), but it is up to them. White isn't hard to get so people will probably do it.
Reply:I agree, it's your wedding and you shouldn't worry about traditions. The all white wedding is very modern and creative. However, the bride will not stand out as much if the entire party is wearing white. I say go for it unless that's an issue for her.
Reply:If you all want to look like floating heads in photos then go for it.

I do not like all white weddings. The photos are boring and very non descript.

If the all white wedding is done wrong or not well then it looks like a bad prom exploded.

I hate to be the dissenting vote, but there would be nothing to distinguish you from anyone else. There are ways to be unique and creative an still pull of a spectacular event.

If you want to incorporate white, why not have the guys wear white dinner jackets? That would look much better than white tuxs.
Reply:I think it is your wedding and any color is fine. My wedding dress was black. Its just a color why do people make an issue of it?
Reply:You know what that is not a bad idea!! The only down fall would be peoples skin tone doesnt always work with white and lot of women think "white makes me look fat"...not to mention the billy idol song "white wedding"
Reply:I think that sounds pretty cool. Not sure about the pictures though. Would they look boring? or beautiful? If you want a little color, you could pick bridesmaids dresses that are white with a colored trim.
Reply:well tradition does say that only the braid can wear white that way she is the focus. if everyone is wearing white how will you be noticed? but if that's what you want talk to you fiance and see if he agree's then go for it.
Reply:Traditions are meant to be broken. By all means - if you want an all white wedding - go for it.
Reply:if thats what you want then go for it
Reply:You are going to blend into your wedding photos and not stand out at all.
Reply:"Tradition" is relative - in some cultures, the bride doesn't even wear white.

It's your wedding, so you're allowed to choose whichever colors you like. People might comment that it's untraditional, but it's your special day, so do what makes you the happiest.
Reply:I think it would be beneficial to have some sort of accent color instead of just white. Even if it was just something subtle like silver or a pale pastel. An accent would add texture.
Reply:That would be perfectly fine! I have seen couples do this, and it can look lovely. Very simple and sweet.

If the bride's wedding dress is considerably fancier than those of her attendants, then she will still stand out. If you want to do this, I would probably suggest putting the bridesmaids in cocktail-length or tea-length simple dresses and the bride in a floor-length dress with some crystals or beadwork.

I'm not sure how you would make the groom stand out if all the men wore white tuxes. Maybe he could have a special boutonniere, a different vest and tie, or a tuxedo in a fancier style?
Reply:It is traditional that the bride only wears white. However, it is your wedding and you can do what you want when it comes to your wedding. It is your day and you can do whatever you want to do.

The reasoning behind the bride only in white is so that she stands out. You can do what you want. Enjoy your day.
Reply:yes in a fairy tale...

only the bride wears white

I am trying to identify an evergreen tree in my yard in Melbourne. It has clusters of small purple flowers.?

It has clusters of small purple flowers with white edges, on spray like stems on the end of the branches. It appears to flower from late spring through til the beginning of winter. Bees and butterflies love the flowers. Just now some of the flowers are giving way to small yellow/orange berries. The leaves are green with serrated edges and the trunk is light in colour and fairly smooth. No one I know can identify it and I haven't had any luck on websites.

Tree/shrub (4-6' tall) with large (6"?) white bell shaped flowers?

This past summer I drove past a house that had a large shrub (or a small tree) in the yard that had extremely large (maybe 6 inches long) white bell shaped flowers. The plant was growing in the front yard of a house in a zone 5 climate. The flowers were all over the bush/tree and the plant looked pretty unique. The flowers almost looked like white lilies that faced the ground and had a bell like shape to them.

Since it was in someone's yard and I was driving by in a car I didn't get the best look at it but the flowers appeared to be white. I didn't see any other markings on the flower.

Anyone have any idea on what this may be?

Reply:Possible trumpet vine, clematis, or an azalea bush. People love their plants, next time stop by and ask the owner.
Reply:It might be a catalpa tree. They bloom in the summer and are pretty spectacular. There are a lot of them in my zone 5 region. The trees get huge but even when they're small they bloom profusely. I might be wrong because to me the flowers look more like orchids than lilies but you never know. How do you remove pollen stains on cotton that are from the white lily flower?

the stamin in the lily is reddish, and the pollen, once on the fabric is yellowish.. I have tried dish soap, laundry soap, Shout stain remover.. To add to my latest collection are 2 pink cotton tops... thanks.

How do you remove pollen stains on cotton that are from the white lily flower?
I know your problem-such pretty flowers, but awful pollen. Have you tried hydrogen peroxide-the mouthwash type? What about applying lemon juice and putting out in the sun?

When I have had the stain on my white sink I sprayed it with Clorox CleanUp but that may be too harsh for the fabric.

As a last resort, you might try phoning a florist to ask how they have handled the problem. There may be a website for something like The Fabric Institute to help. As popular as this type of lily is, I doubt if you are the first with this problem.
Reply:After I answered I went to a floral demonstration and asked your question. His best suggestion was to were latex gloves when working with the flowers but no ideas for solutions to your problem other than what I suggested. Report It

Reply:My solution only works on white cotton, sorry.

*I* pour a drop or two of cheap bleach in the cap, then take a Q-tip and dip it in there, then dab that on the spot. Allow that to sit for a bit ( a minute or less) and launder. *I* use Gain liquid. It works everytime for me!
Reply:Hi there. I use hydrogen peroxide. It bubbles on the stain. I rinse and repeat as needed. Then I make a paste out of powder detergent and apply it to the stain. I then add the regular amount of detergent in the washing machine and launder as usual. This is also good for blood. Have a great day.
Reply:Try a white bar of soap rub it on the inside and the outside of the material hope it works!

I would like to grow more peace liles from seeds. can i retrieve the seeds from the white flowering blooms?

if so how? I hear that any plant that blooms creates seeds, i just dont know how to cultivate them...

I would like to grow more peace liles from seeds. can i retrieve the seeds from the white flowering blooms?
I would say the seeds will be sterile unless you polinate. That is not a self polinating plant.

What you need to do is to take an ordinary "Q" tip and then get some pollen from another plants bloom and polenate the plant you want as seed pod. Just rub it around in there, dont be too fusy it will polenate.

Then wait till the pod has died down and the seeds form.It must turn brown and shriveled , cut it off and dry the seed pod further on a window sill and in the sun.

You have a choice on planting time. If you plant in the late fall, the seeds will lay dormant and absorb water from the winters snows and then germinate in spring.

Or you can take the seeds and soak them for 3 or 4 days in a jar of water, pass the water thru a sieve, retrieve the seeds and plant in a sterile medium pot keeping it moist.

I grow day lillies and I am very familar with this plant.

Why not use the root shoots in your case, you are not trying to develope a new variety,. Youd want seeds to develope a new cross polly variety.
Reply:ok.. i found some info about peace lilies that u might find REALLY helpful..

Young plants of Spathiphyllum are available from tissue culture or seed. The propagation of Spathiphyllum by tissue culture offers the grower the advantage of selected named varieties, improved crop uniformity and year round availability. Since this crop is backed by extensive breeding programs, commercial growers and consumers can expect a consistent supply of new cultivars.

Spathiphyllum produced from seed has, until recently, lost volume to tissue culture production. Previously, seed production, although economical, tended to lack the quality and uniformity demanded by today's growers. Recently, large scale production of seed crops has gained popularity due to controlled seed production backed by excellent production and marketing systems.

There is more info on the site.. i dont wanna post it all on here

the site i found was:

http://www.oglesbytc.com/culture-spathip...

Hope it helps
Reply:i thnk you can. i would actually bring it by the local plant nursery they could help you more there
Reply:I have not heard of peace lilies being raised from seed, even if this were possible it would be a lenghty %26amp; tedious procedure,if you have enough blooms for seeds, it would be easier %26amp; a fool proof method to divide the plants %26amp; replant rooted portions of a few plants each.
Reply:I don't know about peace lillies specifically... But with any plant the blooms are what are fertilising the seeds. You need to wait until the flowers dry up and fall off, then what's left is usually some sort of pod or container depending on the plant that contains the seeds. But to get seeds that will grow you normally need to have more than one plant! Or else the seeds won't be fertilised.

Will my white flower girls dress match my bridesmaids dresses?

My flower girls dresses are white with a taupe sash and my bridesmaids are champagne with a taupe sash. My dress is a diamond white. Do you think this will all blend?

Will my white flower girls dress match my bridesmaids dresses?
I think so! The flower girls always seem to wear white... it gives them that sense of innocence that they inevitably have. It will be very pretty! I love your colors.
Reply:It sounds great! My gown was white, my bridesmaids gowns had an off-white background with a floral print of light and dark mauves, soft yellow, peach and seafoam green. My flowergirls dresses were both white. They had white floral and butterfly design in the material. Since they were plain, I wanted to tie a sash around their waist. One of the girls had red hair, so I went with the seafoam green. I took a swatch to a craft store and got several yards of sheer ribbon about 1/2" wide the same green as in the bridesmaids dresses. I merely tied the ribbon around my flowergirls' waists! They looked amazing!
Reply:Definately - your wedding party sounds like it will be beautiful! I've seen many flower girls is all white and think that looks best, my daughter wore one once and she looked like a miniture bride!

Congratulations!
Reply:Probably not. I would have probably done the same thing. Champagne is a tanish color, toned down. So, if you think Tan, and think white, they don't blend too evenly. Depending on your taste, and decor, I think it would work out.

Best of luck,

Han
Reply:Should be just fine. The flower girls wear white to celebrate the bride with taupe I am assuming as your wedding color. The bridesmaids are wearing your other color choice champagne also with the taupe it should all tie together nicely.

No, its not worth anything.
Reply:if you really would like to know the answer, i would suggest that you go to your local modern arts museum.. most have libraries that are special collections or art, art history, art theory books, and of course biographical indexes of many artists.

however it could also be that the painting you have was created by someone who just liked painting. if you look at the materials it was made with, they should offer you some clue about the painting.
Reply:At least a picture to make anything out of that.

about full grown, but there is a split between the two main trunks and some bugs have gotten in...I have seen earwigs before, but now something that looks like walking wasps? Is that carpenter ants or termites? I put some dishsoap in there sometimes and sometimes some rubbing alcohol to kill the bugs...there is a lot of rotten wood in the split, but the top of the split is holding good so far and the leaves are green...any ideas on this?

I have a white yoshino flowering tree behind my home that is very nice and?
Have an arborist look at the tree. If it is diseased they may be able to save it. If you let it go, it sounds like the tree will die eventually.

Why are some genes recessive and dominant and some mix; tall and short flowers, and red and white combine pink

links appreciated.

Why are some genes recessive and dominant and some mix; tall and short flowers, and red and white combine pink
Some alleles are dominant because the gene product (the protein) "overwhelms" any recessive alleles that are also expressed.

For example, if you make a functional enzyme, and also produce a non-functional enzyme, but you can get on fine with only 50% of your enzyme functioning, then the functioning enzyme will be dominant. Also - the feedback mechanisms to control gene expression may well stay "on" if not enough functioning protein is made, so you'll end up with 200% of the normal amount of protein, with only half of it functional, but the end result is the same as if it was 100% made with it all functional. So if you cross red and white flowers, and the red allele makes pigment, but the white allele doesn't, you'll still end up with a red flower in the progeny.

Other times, the non wild-type allele can produce a protein that actually *interferes* with the function of the normal, wild-type protein. For example, maybe it binds irreversably to the substrate, preventing normal binding of the wild-type protein. In this case, the mutant allele acts like an inhibitor of the normal protein, and will be dominant.

So if you cross white and red flowers, and the "white" allele interferes with the metabolic pathway for making the red pigment, the progeny will all be white.

"Mixing" can happen when the different alleles make different end-proteins that are both expressed, but don't interfere with each other. So if a red and white flower are crossed, the progeny might make both red and white pigment, and will be pink; this is "Codominance" (and is what is seen in human ABO blood types)

Alternatively, the plant may just make half the normal amount of pigment, and will therefore be pink (Incomplete Dominance).

My bridesmaids have Apple red dress can I use red and white rose in there flowers?

Definitely - I'd use the red as accent though - you don't want to over power the dress - think of the picture - if a girl is standing there, would you be able to see her bouquet infront of the red dress, or would they blend in?

My bridesmaids have Apple red dress can I use red and white rose in there flowers?
yes you could. but not to much on the red. Have the red as an accent color. But it would be pretty.
Reply:Sounds like everyone has already answered it but definitely...go with white and reds as the accent. There are so many ways you can go wtih this too! White is very popular in so many beatiful flowers! Good luck!!!
Reply:Try adding in some rich green leaves to compliment the roses and bring out their color against the dresses. Just no baby's breath, too cliche!
Reply:Yes as they have the colour red in their bouquet but ur also using the colour of ur dress I assume which would look great. It would be the colour of their dress and ur dress together and I assume Ur's might be either the same but bigger or just white or just red. Congrates and good luck.
Reply:Don't use red flowers as the main flower, it will blend too much into the dress. I love orange and I got orange lillies for our bouquets but my girls are wearing teal so the colors really pop. Good luck!
Reply:Yes. I'd throw some pink in too. Or a dark purple which will set off the red. Take a look at different Valentines bouquets on FTD, 1800 flowers, etc. and see what colors/ flowers you like.
Reply:Sure I think matching the red dresses with flowers will match nicely. good luck
Reply:Yes you can. But just a little advice. Put a third color in to kinda break up the two colors. It will make the flowers come out away from the dress more.
Reply:yes, but don't use too many. you want them to focus on the dress. oh, make sure the color matches, keep it in the same shade, don't mix a different shade like wine in there.
Reply:Yes but use the red sparingly, 1-5 for a full bouquet.

What can I use instead of egg whites to make sugar coated flowers?

I have edible flowers and I 'd like to coat them with sugar. I saw on the food network that you coat them with a little egg white and water first. I don't want to use raw egg whites and I don't have powder egg whites on hand. Any suggestions?

What can I use instead of egg whites to make sugar coated flowers?
honey or corn syrup maybe??
Reply:Egg substitute watered down. It's pasteurized, so you don't have the same risks as with raw egg whites.
Reply:No

you defy the recipe..

PS what difference

I have never see powdered whites..

It sounds redundant

Reply:I am in love with jewel tones and used mostly vibrant reds and purples in my wedding. I told those colors to my florist and he added some other colors here and there so it wasn't just two colors everywhere and it was amazing. So you can use different reds like black magic roses (http://www.rirs.org/show2004photos-ks/01... and valencia roses (http://www.hickerphoto.com/data/media/18... and add to it with purple flowers like irises (http://www.ancientrootsresearch.com/Hap-... some beautiful hot pinks like stargazer lilies (http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbvi... and orchids (http://houseonahill.net/flowers/wp-conte... and some white here and there like navona lilies (http://www.thelilygarden.com/images_lili... These are just a few ideas but my centerpieces were amaaaazing. Good luck and have fun with it!

Ok, I just noticed that none of my websites work when you click on it and I don't know why! I'm sorry about that. Please go to google and search for my suggestions and click on "images" on the top left corner so you can see lots of pictures of the flowers I suggested. They are truly beautiful and I hope you like them :)
Reply:I think the orange rustic colored flowers look beautiful with red roses.
Reply:Pink carnations are lovely with red roses.
Reply:Try any green (for the greenery %26amp; to be a filler where there might be a space if you are doing it yourself.)

Also try peach, silver, gold, beige %26amp; russet.
Reply:I have seen lilac babies breath with red roses and that was very attractive.
Reply:Dark blue or any shade of pink would look great with red.

There were wreaths of white flowers at both reagan's and fords funerals. why?

Probably because, assuming that they were white roses (not rose buds) they are suppose to signify a heavenly aspect.

There were wreaths of white flowers at both reagan's and fords funerals. why?
why not
Reply:Because the white flowers are why the white house is called white (not the paint, it was painted white later) and becuase they are former presidents the white house gives them a wreath of white flowers. ;-)
Reply:lillies ?
Reply:because they were in the same cult

During what period of time does White Flowering Dogwood bloom?

During what period of time does White Flowering Dogwood bloom?
Spring..and depending on the area you live...in my coastal NC area, it is late March or early April to May...cooler climes will be later, warmer climates, much earlier...and then you have to factor in if you've had a "false" spring to make them bloom early...

but around Easter is usually when you will see them in bloom..

What tree in south alabama attracts hundreds of butterflies and has white fuzzy ball like flowers?

Cephalanthus occidentalis (button-willow or honey-bells, but around here in Delaware we call it buttonbush, which is the problem with common names -- lol!!) check the link below to Wikipedia and see if that is what you have. My husband got this one for me and says it will definitely get you butterflies and grow to tree height in good conditions. He did landscape architecture for 25 years before doing restoration ecology now.

First link is just the photo of the flowers (fuzzy white ball), second is article about the bush/tree. Hope this is it.

I'am looking for Philippines flowers, specially the national flower sampaguita?

I'am looking for Philippines flowers, specially the national flower sampaguita?
The closest flower you can get if you are in the US is Jasmine flower, or the stephanotis which looks like sampaguita but doesn't have a strong scent. If you really want one, call a florist in Hawaii or Guam, they would be able to ship the flowers to you. You can't have the flower shipped from the Phils., it's restricted.
Reply:I'd say you'd have to move to the Philippines!
Reply:A Yahoo search for "flowers of the philippines" (include the quotation marks in the search box) yields 141 results. If you do the same search, and are willing to spend a little time exploring, I'm sure that you will quickly find the information you seek.

Good luck with your search.

What would be the perfect flowers of red and white for a wedding bouquet?

Red roses %26amp; white tulips.......White roses %26amp; red carnations......

White Calla Lilies %26amp; tiny red roses with babys breath.

What would be the perfect flowers of red and white for a wedding bouquet?
You can't go wrong with roses for your bouquet ane for the wedding party. Mom's should have white, pink or red, groomsmen and groom white.
Reply:Roses and carnations are common for weddings. Calla lilies are common for funerals.I love wild flowers and think they would be pleasantly unique. Good white ones would be daisies, queen Ann's lace, mixed with a traditional red type.
Reply:All roses red and white....
Reply:definately add roses in your bouquet. i also like babys breath.
Reply:carnations or roses would be perfect!!
Reply:red rose and white rose, red gladiolus and white gladiolus, red carnations and white carnations, red orchids and white orchids are used a wedding bouquet.
Reply:Roses are perfect for a wedding but not sure about putting white baby's breath with them because it could be too much of a contrast. How about binding the stems with a red ribbon and adding white pearls to the stems as a trim. or a mix of red an white roses.

If you have a swatch of your colours pop along to a florist for advice on which varieties go - gerbera come in a lot of red shades and can be lovely see design on the link. What about a red gerbera bouquet for the bride and white gerbera for the bridesmaids?

Have a look at the site below for some red and white combinations.
Reply:Carnations are nice with a babies breath and some people will mistake them for Roses so you can get a two for one effect. I have flowers everywhere in my yard so to me, any nice done arrangement will look good.
Reply:roses
Reply:Red carnations and baby's breath. Red roses with small red roses and baby's breath.
Reply:tulips and daisys

maybe 1 rose of each

and a couple mini carnations
Reply:I would say peonies or carnations with baby breath, though a light pink would add a soft, femine touch.
Reply:I chose Calla Lillie's and this other deep red flower, both artificial from Michael's Craft store... That way I can keep them beautiful forever... Fall is a good time to go browse the craft stores for good fall colors... even if you want live flowers, at least you can get ideas of what looks good together and what might not...
Reply:Red and white flowers are referred to as blood and bandages.

If you must use red and white...try red roses (love) and alot of white baby's breathe.
Reply:its more helpful to know what time of year you will be having your ceremony. tulips have been suggested in some of the answers, but i promise you... if you want tulips in october, you will be paying twice the price for them than had you wanted them in march.

i'm a floral designer and roses, while gorgeous, are cliche. its a safe choice and i have to recommend 'black magic' roses (its a color name). they are exquisite roses.

roses, stephanotis, calla lilies, casablanca lilies, tulips, amarylis, etc.

i strongly suggest viewing bridal portraits from photography sites. its the best way to view accurate bridal flowers without being innundated with 'filler' bouquets.

What is the white flower that flies around in the sky?

Flowers do not fly around in the sky.

What you have seen are the seeds of some plants / trees .

This is their mode of dispersal through wind or air .

There are three plants that commonly show their seeds in flight.

What is the white flower that flies around in the sky?
Dandelion seeds?
Reply:I think its the blooms from the cottonwood tree you are thinking of.
Reply:Clouds?
Reply:Could be a number of things, depending on where you are. There are a number of plants that produce fluffy seed-carriers that float around for a while, and then drop the seed somewhere distant from the plant. There are also some trees and shrubs that have white petals drop from their flowers, and get blown around by the wind. If what you see looks like a ball, it's probably a seed-carrier like a dandelion puff-ball. If it looks like a snow-flake, it's more likely to be a loose flower petal.

If two white flowered plants are crossed, what % of their offspring will be white flowered?

If purple flowers are dominant to white flowers... And could you explain why, because I don't understand..

Thanks %26lt;3

If two white flowered plants are crossed, what % of their offspring will be white flowered?
All of their offspring will be white. This is because white flowers are recessive, with a genotype of (rr). When you cross 2 rr (homozygous recessive) plants, all of the offspring will also be rr.

r r

r rr rr

r rr rr

If you had two purple plants with a genotype of Rr (heterozygous), you would have different results.

R r

R RR Rr

r Rr rr

Here, the ratio of genotypes (what the genes are) would be 1:2:1 and the ratio of phenotypes (what they look like) would be 3:1. This is because purple is dominant and if there is at least one capital R (dominant), then the flowers will be purple. If there are two lower-case r's, then the flowers will be white.

I hope that this helps.
Reply:white to white makes white--"aabb plus aabb"

If you crossed a purlpe into a white, in your first generation "F1" of cross, all four possibilities will be purple because purple is dominant. look at a chart--

purple will equal AB

white will equal ab

The four possiblities are AaBb = purple

purple has 100 % chance of showing up and White has 0 % chance.

But if you cross those seeds again, second generation, "F2" white will have a 1/16 % chance overall
Reply:all the answers that correct, a white flower has no pigment and so it is always going to be regressive. White flowers can only produce white flowers if bred with white flowers, but did you know that some colors are only half dominant, for example; a red flower bred with white will make pink. Think about it.
Reply:If either of the parent flowers had *any* purple in them at all, it would SHOW. The petals would be purple. A crossbreed flower is a purple (hybrid) flower; it is not a white (hybrid) flower. Since purple is dominant, there can be no white hybrids.

So both of the parent flowers are lily white and racially pure, having none of that purple in them, and therefore their children will also be white.
Reply:All of their offspring will be white. If Purple is the dominant gene, any flower with one purple gene will not be pure white. Meaning white flowers only have the white gene and there is no way possible for two white flowers to produce anything other then a white flower.
Reply:you'd get white. if purple is dominant (PP) and you cross 2 white flowers (ppX pp) you'd get all white flowers because the law of ressiveness. (sp?) You wouldn't have any big P's so none of the flowers would be Purple. Big P's dominate the little p's.

Anyone out there from Taiwan? Do you know the white flower that taxi drivers hang from rear view mirrors?

I've always wondered about this flower. Street vendors in Taipei sell it at traffic lights and anywhere traffic comes to a standstill. People hang them from their rear view mirrors, they are white and they smell heavenly. What is this flower called? Can it be found in the U.S.?

Anyone out there from Taiwan? Do you know the white flower that taxi drivers hang from rear view mirrors?
Hello

From what I know, the flower is called "White champak" or "Michelia Alba" in English. It's very popular and widely available in Taiwan and other parts of Asia.

From some information I got, I think it's available in the U.S. but it's very hard to find.

Reply:Here is a nice list... Well these are roses but I learned something.

Red roses say “I love you” and also stand for respect and courage.

Rosebuds symbolize beauty, youth and a heart innocent of love or: “You are young and beautiful.” Red rosebuds mean “pure and lovely” and white rosebuds signify girlhood or “too young to love.” The moss rosebud stands for confessions of love.

A single rose stands for simplicity. In full bloom, it means “I love you” or “I love you still,” and a bouquet of roses in full bloom signifies gratitude.

****White roses have several meanings: “You’re heavenly,” reverence and humility, innocence and purity, “I’m worthy of you,” and secrecy and silence.

Red and white roses together, or white roses with red edges, signify unity.

Pink roses in general symbolize grace and gentility. For more subtle shades of meaning, choose deep pink to stand for gratitude and appreciation. Light pink conveys admiration and sympathy.

Yellow roses usually stand for joy and gladness, but can also say “try to care.”

Red and yellow blends stand for jovial and happy feelings.

Coral or orange roses denote enthusiasm and desire.

A deep burgundy rose means “unconscious beauty.”

Reply:Hope the following jasmine perfume will help you:

Jasmin Eau de Parfum by L'Orientaliste took me by surprise — I don't know much about this line, but now I'd like to try more. Jasmin is a sort of middle-of-the-road soliflore, not so heavy and rich as Serge Lutens A La Nuit or Bruno Acampora Jasmin, nor so light and summery as the Chantecaille under consideration yesterday. The base is woody and warm and has a nice earthy finish, and a hint of spice in the dry down gives it a sultry feel after an hour or so. It is not a terribly complex fragrance, and I wouldn't call it a powerhouse in terms of lasting power, but it is very nicely done and reasonably priced at $56 for 50 ml. If you've tried anything else by L'Orientaliste, do comment.

The top notes of Montale's Jasmin Full smell like jasmine fruit candy. That fades to a white floral blend over a dry woody-musky base. It is pretty enough, but fails to captivate me — worn next to the L'Orientaliste, the flowers smell awfully clean, and while it lasts for ages, the far dry down verges on bland. Others have liked this one much better than I did; you can read positive reviews at Perfume Posse and Perfume Smellin' Things. The notes include jasmine, honeysuckle and orange blossom, and it is $95 for 50 ml.

I have a perfumista friend who calls Pink Jasmine by Fresh her "jeans" fragrance, and that is apt: this is a very casual, very "pink" fruity floral with lots of sparkling citrus and a bit of clean jasmine blended with light florals, and while it is foody and sweet, it wears well in the heat of summer. I can't say I'm enthralled personally, but I can understand why someone who likes sweet more than I do would be charmed. The notes include red orange, freesia, spring lilac, magnolia, peony, fresh jasmine, tiare flower, precious woods, velvety peach skin, and marsh mallow, and the lasting power and sillage are both good. Fresh Pink Jasmine is $75 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.
Reply:It's called Jasmine.
Reply:When I was growing up I loved Love's Musky Jasmine Flower... now it's marketed under Love's Baby Soft Jasmine. I've not been to the Meditteranean, but I always enjoyed that scent. My daughter has worn Healing Garden Jasmine Therapy... that's probably easier to find than the Love's. And finally, when I searched the net the oen scent that kept popping up was by Woods of Windsor: I'm not familiar with it but it seems to be readily available and might just be the one. Good luck.
Reply:Try the body shop they have all sorts of different scents!!!

You should check with a florist to see what would be in season. Good Luck!!
Reply:best is to have flowers dyed. its easy and carnations are the best. they last the longest also.
Reply:Those lilies that have mainly white petals with pink on the inner bit and obviously they have green stems.
Reply:You may have to pay a bit more money to have them shipped in, but Hydrangeas come in all three of those colors.
Reply:Roses and those tiny little white lilly things, I forget what their called, but they look like little upside down bells. They're very cute.
Reply:I am having white roses with some dusty pink orchid's and leaves through it. It looks so cool and yet modern even thought it had roses.

Good luck :)
Reply:You could try Orchids, lovely flowers!!!!
Reply:Roses and Carnations are the traditional flower but go to the flower shop and they will be able to help better.
Reply:Peonies come in the most beautiful shades of pink, but I am not sure if they are in season in October so they may be unavailable or expensive then.
Reply:Roses, lillies, carnations, gipsum, freesia, the list is endless, let your florist help you.
Reply:you could try for stargaze lillies they are beautiful, and incorporate the colors you are looking for.
Reply:I dont know if they are available in October but you could check. But Calla Lillies come in a beautiful pink as well as white and the long stems are a nice light fresh green. They mix lovely with roses and are very striking in bouquets and arrangements.
Reply:How about lily's they come in a beautiful big white bloom with pink stripes. Also roses are great in any color, or carnations. You might want to make a special trip to your Joannes fabrics and craft store and take a wander down through their silk flower department. That would give you some awesome ideas and you never know, you do not need fresh flowers in bouquet. It would last forever done in silk flowers! It's just food for thought, my friend! Good luck to you! and congrats! Kimpossible

Reply:The pink is easy cause lots come in all shades of pink, including roses, carnations, alstromeria, ranunculus, etc.

White is about the same; also calla lilies %26amp; casablanca lilies if you like them. (Gardenias %26amp; orchids come white too, but are a little more pricey).

For green, my faves are the lime green button mums, green goddess(looks like a green calla lily), green hipericum berries, and green carns.

White Flowering Dogwood with pink on the tips ?

Does anyone know which cornus variety this type of dogwood belongs to? The flowers are not huge, but there are four white leaves which form into a tip and the tip is coloured pink. I would love to find this plant for my 82 year old mother for whom it has great sentimental value and I'm not having much luck

White Flowering Dogwood with pink on the tips ?
Just sounds like a regular old dogwood, cornus florida.
Reply:this is just a regular flowering dogwood. Remember when planting this tree that it likes partial shade. You can usually find these at any gardening center. Also try treehelp.com
Reply:Hi!!

I'm not sure which kind it is, but I know a website that tells you about a lot of different cornus varieties and has pictures of them. You might find it there. Click on:

Has anyone seen a white and black delphinium?

In early spring we planted some delphiniums and one has flowered white and black. Is this unusual? I have never seen one before. I could email a photo if anyone would like to see it and maybe tell me the name of it.

Has anyone seen a white and black delphinium?
Like Sandy I've seen the white with a black "bee" but never the opposite. I've also seen a very dark (black) purple color but the bee was yellow. Thompson%26amp;Morgan has seed. RScott
Reply:Sounds beautiful. Delphinium is my very favorite flower, but have trouble growing it here in Maryland.
Reply:I have seen white delphiniums and very dark purple delphiniums but never both colors on the same plant. Post a photo so that we can see this unusual plant!

What is the best neutral scent oil I can use to extract plumeria scent from loose flowers?

I want to create two different preparations: filling two mason jars with fresh picked white Plumeria flowers from Hawaii. One jar will get filled with flowers and grain alcohol and the other will be filled with flowers and a neutral oil. Can anyone suggest a cheap supermarket available oil that I can use for the oil jar that has no scent of its own and will absorb the Plumeria fragrance?

What is the best neutral scent oil I can use to extract plumeria scent from loose flowers?
From Henrietta's Herbals:

"Safflower is a nice scentless oil."

That is a sight from a person who makes their own rose salve and that is what she recommends. Hope this helps!!

What flowers would look nice with blue hydrangeas at a wedding?

My colors are different shades of blue and white and the ceremony will be outdoors in July.

I would prefer white flowers along with the blue hydrangeas, but other suggestions are appreciated!

:) Thanks!

What flowers would look nice with blue hydrangeas at a wedding?
Blue Hydrangeas %26amp; White Baby Breathe would be Really Gorgeous...
Reply:Here are some great white flowers:

Champaign Roses -- they're creamy, ivory white

White Chrysanthemums

Freesia -- absolutely my favorite white flower

Gardenia -- beautiful, but very fragrant

White violets

You've picked a great base flower in hydrangeas! best of luck!
Reply:I love blue and white together. Two white flowers that would go very nicely with Blue Hydrangeas are "freesias double white" which have beautiful full white petals when opened and "mini tulips" which come in a very nice white and I believe there is a blue/white mini tulip which are white with blue tips. Both would work well, maybe all three!
Reply:white or pale pink roses. Since your wedding is outdoors in July, I think satin cones for the flowers is just gorgeous. You can hang them on the chairs that face the aisle for your ceremony. www.pewcones.com has a great selection. Hope this helps!
Reply:White roses, maybe white freesia, I wonder how white asiatic lilies would look with hydrangeas the two have different textures but it might work.
Reply:I used blue hydrangeas in my wedding. I also had Casablanca Lilies, white freesia, white roses, baby's breath, and some other flowers. The florist took sliver glitter spray and lightly sprayed the boquet so all the flowers shimmered in the light. She also put two little butterfly picks in it as well.

My flowers looked goregous. The florist didn't like the hydrangeas their vendor provided so she cut them out of her own garden! My tossing boquet was a couple of stems of hydrangeas tied with ribbon. Very simple but sweet.
Reply:I would say white roses would be classy or lilies. Also though I think some Iris' to accent would be nice and maybe some babies breath too.
Reply:if your gown is white and formal then i would suggest white lilies.

if your gown is cream and formal then what about cream colored roses?

if you are wearing a more casual style daisies, fressias, wild alberta roses, or lilies of the valley or white lilacs?

no matter what you choose, it will be beautiful, wishing you the best.

What kind of flowers and color would go well with a black & white, w/ a touch of turquoise wedding theme?

What about using the deep plum calla lilies? I think those are beautiful flowers and the color would be lovely with the color scheme you are thinking of...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3166/2345...

If you want to go with something that stands out a bit more you could go with the Orlando Roses.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3281/2345...

Or, another bold idea would be to use the yellow mini calla lilies...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3174/2345...

I think that almost anything can work with a black and white theme. It all depends on your budget and of course your own personal taste.

I hope this helps a little! Good luck! ♥

What kind of flowers and color would go well with a black %26amp; white, w/ a touch of turquoise wedding theme?
My favorite flowers are daisies so that being said they would be my first choice. Many florist can colour the white daisies to your choice. I think I would go a dark turquoise %26amp; a little bit lighter blended with the whites. Then gather and secure them with a black ribbon. Just my idea.
Reply:in terms of the color wheenormal yellow goes god iwth normal ble so.....turqiouse i a blue reen maybe an orange yellow (more yello wthan oragne) i found a nail polish color that looks nice to base your color n... essie.com

Reply:Agree on the deep purple. I would also suggest something like silver.

For flowers, small purple flowers with larger white ones would work well.
Reply:White calla lilies
Reply:I think yellow would go well. Or a deep purple. Both would probably look good mixed with white.
Reply:Bright Orange flowers would look really good
Reply:burnt and bright orange flowers...

What flowers should i plant at my house , my house is white with dark blue shutters.?

I'm going to echo what the others said about light and soil conditions. Depending on that, I think I'd go either with bright colors like reds and yellows to provide contrast, or a white, lavender/purple and blue palette if you want a more peaceful look.

What flowers should i plant at my house , my house is white with dark blue shutters.?
Spend a hour at the plant nursery, they are usually pretty smart. Remembering the soil and sun and etc. do you want the flowers or shrubs year round or what?
Reply:if you have a window that gives you bright indirect lighting go for the ficus tree. what a difference a plant can do to a room.
Reply:Agreed with The Muse. Your colors are pretty much neutral, so you can use just about anything with that. It's just a matter of what will grow.
Reply:I agree with the 1st answer because your house's colors would look good with almost everything.
Reply:Depends more on what you like, your sun exposure, moisture and soil rather than the colours of your house.

I was trying to grow flowers at first they were doing well but then at the roots i saw fuzzy white stuff?

can u tell me what it is and what i did wrong

I was trying to grow flowers at first they were doing well but then at the roots i saw fuzzy white stuff?
Its mold. to much standing water. you also need a pot that drains better.
Reply:They may have disease. You need to re-pot them immediately. You know I bet you have the old soil that they were in when you purchased them, if thats the case you really need to save them, lol. I love the scotts and miracle grow products. Also make sure that you have them with the preferred lighting. Good luck!!
Reply:Its a fungus..."damping off"...you are keeping the soil too wet. Don't over water the plants.

Is it true? if I plant white cone flowers near pink cone flowers they will turn pink?

Cross-pollination may result in pink offspring from both parents' genes, but the existing plants remain the same. By the same token, if an inter-racial couple get together, their races remain constant while their children inherit traits of both parents. Consider the results of human genetics and it makes sense. Many white flowers, as they age, may take on non-white tones which some people attribute to what was mentioned, but it's just a result of natural aging in the flower. White trilliums turn slightly pink as they age, for example.

Is it true? if I plant white cone flowers near pink cone flowers they will turn pink?
Sometimes that can happen, due to cross fertiliation.
Reply:Not likely. Usually for cross pollination to occur you have to have red and white flowers next to each other. That's usually how pink flowers are created. Another way that the white flowers might change color could be related to what the soil has in it. For example if there is iron in the ground then the flowers could turn reddish brown. If the soil is more acidic or base that can also have an effect on what color the flowers become.

Flowers to match blue, white and silver?

My wedding colors are blue, white and silver and I don't know what kind of flowers to get that will look good with those colors. Any ideas?

Flowers to match blue, white and silver?
Yellow works, like a butter cream will work.
Reply:What shade of blue? If it's a dark blue, I suggest yellow.

If it's sky blue (which is actually what my colors are: sky blue and silver), may I suggest pink? We are going with dahlias, roses and mini callas all in a medium pink.

But blue is a great color-it can serve almost as a neutral to a wide variety of flowers.
Reply:Light blue hydrangeas and white roses are beautiful together. You could throw in some white stephanotis with silver balls in the center.

Check out my bouquet at the following (click wedding pics):

so far, I'd go with a fourth color, like pink or red flowers.

Even orange, peach or yellow.

Who is the photographer who does the black and white photos of kids in adult clothes and flowers are in color?

ANNE GEDDES

Who is the photographer who does the black and white photos of kids in adult clothes and flowers are in color?
john entisadertal?
Reply:Anne Geddes is a famous phographer but her subjects are babies, exclusively. When you say "kids", I imagine an older child.

There was a another famous photographer named Lewis Hines who took pictures of working children during the turn of the century and the height of the industrial age. They were very poignant as those children did not look like the children they were anymore. However, the pictures were in black in white. Geddes did the black and white with a dab of color type of art photography.

Did you maybe mean to say babies and not "kids"?
Reply:I thought the first name of the photographer was Kim.
Reply:kim anderson is the photographer.

I'm thinking I should bring him to get checked, Please Help ?

Can a dog be allergic to flowers and should I bring him to get checked?
My dog is incredibly allergic to flowers (and most other house plants, for that matter).

I took him to the vet, who gave me some meds to temporarily relieve his symptoms.

You should definitely take him. :)
Reply:You should take him to the vets. My dogs like that sometimes and it turned out he was having allergies!
Reply:not all dogs but yea.I think you should take him for a checkup

Does anyone know the name of dark green leafy plant that grows large white flower from edge of leaf?

I saw this plant in the waiting area of a nail salon and it is the most unique looking plant I have ever seen. I tried asking the salon owners for the name of the plant, but they didn't know.

The leaves are a bit "ruffled" as in, not flat. The flower grew from a thick stem that sprouted from the edge of the leaf. The flower is about 6-7 inches in diameter and if you look closely, it almost looks like there is a tongue inside. Once the bud began to bloom, it fully bloomed in a very short time.

known as King of Himalayan flower. very lucky if u see it bloom. botanical name: Saussurea obvallata.

Blooming period is very short

White or blue flowers?

Can anyone please tell me what kind of flowers are blue and white in colour in nature(not dyed)? Not in both blue and white but a flower that is solely blue or solely white. Thank you!

White or blue flowers?
Some cool white flowers are: white roses (both domestic and wild such as wood rose); daisies; St. Ann's Lace; white lilies; snapdragons; dutchman's breeches; and many many more.

Naturally blue flowers are not quite as numerous but there are some good ones: flax; wild daisies (some species of them are more blue than others); heath aster; bluebells; spiderwort; dayflower; certain species of cactus flowers; trumpet vine etc.
Reply:I can get you but I don't know its English name.

In tamil it is known as "Shank Pushpam"
Reply:Snowdrop - white

Bluebell - blue
Reply:White : Lilies

Blue : Tiny blue flowers (can't remember the name)

I have seen a multi floral white shrub I would love to know the name of?

its in flower now, has arched stems with hundreds of little white flowers all the way up it, it has tiny little dark green leaves behind the flowers, a bit like stars, no smell, just beautiful to look at, its quite a tall large shrub, abou 6ft high, and wide, thanks for looking.

I have seen a multi floral white shrub I would love to know the name of?
is it pyracanthus (sp)
Reply:Possibly Spiraea nipponica "Snowmound" if it has no scent.

Most of the white flowered summer shrubs are scented (to attract pollinators)

The pyracanthas have finished flowering in the Midlands - mostly looking pretty "dead" now before the berries form.

Osteomeles is an arching shrub with five-petalled flowers but these come in clusters.

Styrax has lots of yellow-centred white flowers in early summer.
Reply:It is most likely one of the Philadelphus', as they are currently in flower. There are a few varieties, but all have white flowers and a strong perfume, and arching stems. They should be pruned by half immediately after flowering, then the growth it puts on will provide the flowering stems for next year.
Reply:abelia?
Reply:could be pyrocantha. are there any thorns? if there arent thats not it.

my best guess is that its some form of viburnum
