What could this tree in my front yard be? About 25 ft tall and STINKY white flowers just bloomed.?

I live in SC, so it is fairly warm out already. I bought my house last June and at that time the tree just had big leaves on it. Since it is getting warm here already, the tree has these teeny white flowers that bloomed all over it (no leaves yet like I remember it last summer). These flowers smell awful!! I have never smelled a flower that actually stunk. It's not that I simply don't prefer the smell of them, they flat out stink. Kinda smells like rotten fish to me. It is a beautiful tree, just smells horrible this time of the year. What kind of tree is it?

What could this tree in my front yard be? About 25 ft tall and STINKY white flowers just bloomed.?
It's a Bradford Pear Tree, we used to have one in front of our house. Every year when it starts to get warm, it will smell like something died, it smells even worse after a rain.. and those stinky little flowers will fall off and get all over the grass and driveway..
Reply:maybe your tree has a fungus cause i have lived in the south for years and have been surrounded by bradford pear trees and never had one stink like that. call your local tree nursery maybe they can tell you why.
Reply:Pear trees are known to stink - and it can last a while. I don't know why, but they do.

The worst of the smell will go away after the blossoms drop and the leaves come in.
Reply:I did some research aswell..and you are right it is a bradford pear tree..it states oon this link it STIIINKS..
Reply:yes it is a bradford pear. they are notorious for their fish smell!
Reply:eeewww it sounds like a stinky mcstinkinheimer tree to me!! dig it up and go plant it with its own kind!!
Reply:Take a picture of it and post it on line so we can see it.

What are creative names for science projects related to flowers?

My project is, "What type of white flower turns pink, or even red, the fastest using red food dye?" I need to have a creative title for my display bored. So far my ideas are:

Flower Power OR Flowers By the Hours

The reason I say Flowers by the Hours is because my project was done over an 8 hour period.

Should I use one of these? Do you have any better ideas? Are these tacky? Any other unique titles?

How do I safely clean artificial flowers?

White flowers turned yellow from cigarette smoke.

Flowers are permanently glued in a vase with green leaves.

I do not want to ruin the leaves or vase by spraying bleach.

What else can I use?

How do I safely clean artificial flowers?
If you are afraid to use water and a mild soap, because you think that you will destroy them, then you can go to a specialized shop (or even visit an e-shop at e-bay or amazon) and have a look for a specific product. Just be sure not to spend more than what the entire pot with with the flowers costs.

Usually, dry cleaning is working in "fresh dirty".

katerina
Reply:Thank you. Report It

Reply:You can get one of those special cleaners, but I've found that just swooshing them around in a sink with a mild detergent works just fine. Since yours are glued in, it might be a bit awkward, but I believe it's do-able. Just grab the vase with one hand, the stems with the other, invert and swoosh the flowers only, not the vase.
Reply:i guess, you can try bleach on a piece of cloth, to target only the areas you want, (after the water hose for the dust)
Reply:a fine spray with the garden hose works for me, to get the dust off. set in smoke you won't get entirely off
Reply:Go to your local hobby store. There are actually cleaners designed for silk plants. Wal-Mart has it, too, in that section of the store.
Reply:You may just want to get a new one, once yellow not much you can do.
Reply:egads to clean artificial flowers you MUST use artificial cleaner! they sell it and any local hardware store1

How often does a Fly Trap flower? Also how many flowers does it usually have?

We have had ours since 4-21-06. It already had three white flowers(yesturday),and now a new stem with buds is growing.

How often does a Fly Trap flower? Also how many flowers does it usually have?
They usually flower once in the spring and can send up multiple scapes depending on health and size of the plant.

What flowers would look nice with blue hydrangeas at a wedding?

My colors are different shades of blue and white and the ceremony will be outdoors in July.

I would prefer white flowers along with the blue hydrangeas, but other suggestions are appreciated!

:) Thanks!

What flowers would look nice with blue hydrangeas at a wedding?
I immediately thought White Orchids... how elegant!
Reply:I would use white cala lillies and add a baby pink rose with the blue hydranges, because their centers sometimes host an array of colors from white, green and pale pink. The use of a random pink rose would be complimentary as well as stunning. =o)

Good Luck! Congratulations!
Reply:Lots and lots of pink baby's breath! It will be elegant!!
Reply:white lillies, babies breath in white too.
Reply:Calla lillies or stargazers would be a unusual and pretty.
Reply:Use only the hydrangeas and lots of them!
Reply:White Lilacs
Reply:orbits or tulips when the stem is cut short.
Reply:I wouldn't use another flower, it would detract from the hydrangeas, remember simpler is better, use lots of

white Babies Breath and foliage, it will be beautiful

Is it a problem that my herbs are growing flowers?

I am growing mint and basil on my window sill and they have grown white flowers at the tips. Is this a problem? Will it effect the quality of the herbs? Should I cut them off or can I just continue harvesting the herbs as usual.

Is it a problem that my herbs are growing flowers?
You can cut off the flowers soon after they open so they don't get a chance to go to seed, unless you want the seed. The flavor of herbs deteriorates when it flowers %26amp; goes to seed. Leaves %26amp; stems become fibrous

For Basil: "It is best to keep basil from flowering because, as an annual, once the plant flowers and sets seed it will go into decline."

http://www.ames.com/faqherbs.html

Trim off the growing tip(s) of the branches when the plants are quite small. Repeat this several times until the plants are as bushy as desired. When the plants become quite dense, some gardeners simply trim or shear them regularly and use the shearings in cooking. Other gardeners will cut off a larger proportion of the plant for harvest, especially if they plan to dry or freeze a quantity of basil all at one time. Drastic harvests can be done just a few times a season because it's stressful on the plants and eventually the plants just ‘wear out’. In either case, the trimming prevents the plant from flowering and it regrows in order to try to flower. If your plants are already quite tall, cut them back by about a third., which will give you a nice harvest and allow you to begin pinching as it grows back. Make sure the plant receives adequate water and nutrients to regenerate itself. Pinch tall middle stems to promote bushy, compact growth. Avoid lush growth as it may reduce the flavor...It is best to cut leaves for drying just before flowers open.

For Mint: "The more frequently the sprigs are cut, the better the growth. Use leaves at any time. Leaves to be dried are best taken just as flowers begin to appear".

Here's a site on growing herbs:

http://www.wvu.edu/~agexten/hortcult/her...

Good luck! Hope this helps.
Reply:It is. They will start to die off so pinch the flowers off, or cut them back about one third so that they can not proceed.
Reply:lots of herbs bloom but some go to seed and bloom flowers
Reply:the flowers won't hurt anything(they are kind of pretty) they will reduce the strength of the taste of the herbs a bit. Just cut them off if you don't want them there. Trimming them back will just encourage more fresh leaves. The younger leaves are the tastiest! Especially with the basil. Try oregeno and chives for your window sill also.
Reply:If you let them go to seed (which they are starting to do once they flower), the plants will die off. Pinch the flowers off to stop that process.
Reply:Yes problem, Cut back 1/3 to 1/2 for the plant, water well after cutting them back. Good luck

My strawberry plants are growing hot PINK flowers?

ummm arent the flowers meant to be white??

i have been reading around, trying to see if i am meant to pluck the flowers off; but all the articles i have read talk about a white flower.... my plants have hot pink flowers???? why is this?

My strawberry plants are growing hot PINK flowers?
There are several varieties marketed at present for their pink flowers, one variety so dark it's almost red. they still produce very nice fruit - sweet and juicy, so don't stress. Don't pluck off any flowers, as they are the future fruits.
Reply:There are a few ornamental strawberries that are grown for the beautiful flowers and not the fruit. They do fruit but it's nothing to right home about. Perhaps you got an ornamental one?

What is the meaning of a white colored rose in the language of flowers?

As a florist i was asked this question often. Many diferent sorces will give you many different answers.

there are 4 basic colors; red, yellow, pink, and white.

what color is more perfect to apply to a wedding than white? well becuase of this many sources will tell you that a white rose is somehow conected in some way or another to a happy marrage. what bride dosnt want that?

i was taught the following;

red: love/ passion

yellow: friendship

pink: happiness/ joy

white: forever/ pure

if you are asking because you are planing on giving roses and would like to know the meaning before they are received, please rember that it is more imortant to pick out what looks apealing or simply colors that person would like. the meaning given to that flower isnt set in stone, it can mean whatever you want it to mean.

i personally love white flowers, manly because i like simple looking arangements. i cant stand red roses. i would be much happier receiving white roses from my lover than red. even happier to receive orchids.

you dont have to worry about silly meaning if you get a few stems of those.

http://www.orchidcharm.com/images/white-...

also when purchasing roses you will want to lightly squeeze the bulb of the rose. the harder the bud is, the longer it will last. if the bud seems hollow they will die within a couple days. if it is rock hard and the water is changed regularly it can last a couple weeks.

What is the meaning of a white colored rose in the language of flowers?

Anyone know of this fragrant white flower?

I recently went to Moody Gardens in Galveston Tx and came across a fragrant flowered tree ( I think). The flowers were white with 5 long petals curved ourtward like a peeled banana. Towards the inside of the flower, it was a light yellow. The leaves were about a foot long and about 5in wide. If anyone know what this is, please let me know. I've seached endlessly on the internet with no luck. Anything helps. Thanks

Reply:Sounds like a Magnolia -the representative of Southern grace %26amp; grit.
Reply:It could have been a Plumeria. This is usually grown in Hawaii and the flowers are used for making leis. We actually grew one as a houseplant.
Reply:It is probably a magnolia, but why not call Moody's and ask them about it?
Reply:Magnolia trees are common in the south, large white fragrant flowers and large dark green leaves. I have one in my yard, about 50 ft. tall.
Reply:We're missing the height of the 'tree', that would help. Did the flowers hang down or were they upright? You might look up "Angel's Trumpets" (Datura sp.) These are very gragrant flowers and also come in a variety of colors, some grow upright and appear to be a small tree when they get tall. You could also just try calling the garden and asking them.
Reply:That would be the Magnolia tree, similar to a Garedenia flower, but larger. very fragrant flower.

I have a lilac tree that has deep purple flowers, but last year 1/3 of the tree also blooms white flowers.?

Someone told me to trim the white lilac flowers after it bloomed and then next year the whole lilac tree will bloom all deep purple flowers. This year, the tree seems to be blooming even more white flowers! How do I get the whole tree to bloom all purple flowers, as it should? It looks funny with some deep purple and some white. In past years, it was all deep purple. I have mulched it and put lyme to keep less acidic. Help?!

I have a lilac tree that has deep purple flowers, but last year 1/3 of the tree also blooms white flowers.?
It is because it has heterogeneous genes.

Sometimes it will bloom white, and sometime purple, because of the parents.
Reply:Is it possible that your tree was grafted? I have seen other trees that were grafted have some of the graft traits %26amp; some origional. If so and the origional was white, you would have to trim everything off below the graft.

I don't think two colors of flowers look funny. If it is viney, I would wind the t colors of branches together so I had a little of both colors all over. Right now I am dealing with a hybrid rose bush that has yellow, pink, and yellow with pink tips on the blooms of the same bush, in varying digrees of color saturation. Strange, but I love it.
Reply:If the white flowers repulse you, cut back those branches - not just the flowers (or mark them and trim later). It would be best to cut them late summer or fall so that you remove next year's white flower buds that form this season. It is possible you have 2 different plants growing together or it was grafted to have 2 colors on one plant. I don't think acidity affects lilac color (as it does hydrangea).
Reply:I believe that you have a tree that is a result of splicing. This is done in the effort to create new species.

Do not mess with the soil! Lilac are not affected by the acidity of the soil. They actually tend to like undernourished soil.

Now if you try to cut off the white flowers you run a risk that the shock could kill the lilac. Personally i would leave it alone. If you want a pure purple lilac buy and new one and ask if it is on it's own stock.

The following web site has lots of information.
Reply:In the begining of blooming they are deep colored as time goes on the blooms get lighter and lighter in color.

Mine started out deep purple too but then started turning lighter as the buds were getting older. Then they started turning brown and died off.

Is this what could be happening with your lilac bush?
Reply:I am learning something like this in biology at the min!

Its to do with the genes!

The tree must be heterzygous.(two types of allele) This means it can produce 2 colours.

For the tree to produce all the same coulour it must be homozygous.(one type of allele)

The make a homozygous tree(all purple) you must cross fertilise two homozygous.

This prob sounds confusin but i hope it helps:D
Reply:take a dirt sample in to be tested

Why does my Rose of Sharon have two(2) different colored flowers?

I have 3 or 4 very old Rose of Sharon Bushes(maybe 15 years old) I planted from sprouts. I have a "purple" flower Rose of Sharon bush and a "white" flower rose of Sharon bush and between the two is a bush that has "purple" and "white" flowers. The bush was never grafted. It has only one "trunk"; each limb on the bush has it's own individual color.......either all purple or all white but they are all on the same bush. I have heard of flowers changing colors but I have never heard of a bush having two different colored flowers on it without something being done to it and this bush has had nothing done to it to cause this.

Why does my Rose of Sharon have two(2) different colored flowers?
Rose of sharon (Hibiscus), beautiful flowers! The state flower of Hawaii. When they drop their seeds, they grow very easily, and 1 seed from each plant hit the same spot. It looks like 1 plant, but i guarentee it's actually 2 just roots are wrapped real tiight.
Reply:has it always been like this?its possible that it was pollinated by both trees.where did you get the sprouts?if bought from a nursery they may have beendone there.that is odd.enjoy the oddity.

Are you suppposed to prune the branches of a Japanese White Spirea in the Spring or only after it flowers?

I don't see any bud growth on my Japanese white spirea, and can't remember if I pruned them last year in the spring or not. Am I just being impatient? Is it all spirea? or just the Japanese white?

Are you suppposed to prune the branches of a Japanese White Spirea in the Spring or only after it flowers?
That depends on the exact spirea.

There are two groups... spring blooming forms and summer bloomers. The spring bloomers usually have white flowers, although some summer flowering forms also have white flowers. The time you should prune is dependent on when the flower buds are formed.

Spring flowering shrubs set their flower buds in the late summer or fall, and bloom in the spring. If you were to prune those in the winter, spring or fall, you would ruin your flowers. If on the other hand the plant blooms in the summer, it will set it's flowers on the current seasons growth. Summer blooming spirea should be cut back while there are no leaves on the shrub (now-ish).

I'm only guessing, but you probably have a spring bloomer, cut those back right after they are done flowering for the season.

Spring Spirea: Spiraea cantoniensis, S. nipponica, S. prunifolia, S. trilobata, S. x 'Vanhouttei'

Summer Spirea: Spiraea x bumalda, S. japonica

I hope that this helps

Good luck-
Reply:Wait till after it flowers and then prune. They don't need to be pruned every year only as required so if you miss a prune it won't be the end of the world. Relax and enjoy.
Reply:be patient. wait until fall, because that's when you're supposed to prune flowering plants and trees. if you wait until fall, it will have had a chance to flower.

What can i use to make white flowers different colors?

i know that if u put blue food coloring in a vase overnight with just ready to bloom white flowers then when u wake up you will have blue flowers but how can i make them neon pink. i dont want the muted pink flowers that u can get in florist shops i want vibrant, neon pink flowers but i want them to be real flowers not fake. can i use the dye that u can mix with frosting to make it hot pink? i dont want to kill the flowers so nothing toxic like paint lol

and please dont tell me to spray paint them i think thats beyond tacky!!!

What can i use to make white flowers different colors?
I doubt that you can get a neon pink, but your best bet is a very concentrated solution of red or hot pink food dye (with just a little water), which is often the same dye used for coloring frosting. Give it a try!
Reply:Anything that is not toxic would work.........food coloring is always great. mix up a few new colors. Be adventuresom.

Yes, the dye that you use in frosting is OK.

Have fun.......be original!!!

How do you make tissue paper flowers?

I just saw a cool christmas craft on tv. White paper flowers on a styrofoam tree shape. Use some white branches randomly on the sides and place a single chocolate cupcake on the branch here and there. They also used the white flowers in a 2 big bowls on either side of the tree! Would look great on my table but I never made tissue paper flowers.

How do you make tissue paper flowers?
follow these instructions:

1.get some squares of paper seperated from each other

2.lay them on top of each other

3.pick them all up in the middle and squish the middle up

4.get a ribbon or something and tie up the middle (where you squished it)

5.either sides of the paper look likea creased dress right?with as little force, pull the tissue apart from each other(there are two or three layers on one square right?pull them apart too!)

6.do the same on the other and then hold the middle and get your hand and use your thumb and middle finger, and make a circle outside the rose and slowly lift your hand up to the top of it.

7.if your not happy with it repeat 6 a few more times or 5
Reply:I could explain how to make one, but it is easier to have you look at a video.

http://www.expertvillage.com/videos/tiss...
Reply:Just off the top of my head, i would imagine start w/ a ball of tissue paper with lots of folds and creases, (maybe red would look nice?) and then take strips of white (sparkly?) paper folded into loops and elmer's glue them into those creases radiating from the center, and then fluff and crinkle to get desired look?
Reply:I make very simple carnations by drawing a circle with compasses on tissue paper which has many layers (at least 5). Then I cut out a circle through all the layers using zig zag scissors. Take a pencil/pen and put the point on the spot that marks the middle. Fold the circle up around the pen. Hold the bottom middle point and pull out the pen. Tie the bottom stem of the flower with e.g an elastic band. Now fluff the layers of the "carnation" out. You end up with quite a dramatic flower and it looks good in any color including all white. You can finish the bottom with florist tape.

Red flowers are dominant over white flowers in Indian Paintbrush.?

what color would a flower with genotype Rr be?

red

pink

white

a mixture of red and white petals

Red flowers are dominant over white flowers in Indian Paintbrush.?
In this case, it is probable that "R" is a gene for a red pigment and "r" is a faulty version of the gene - an error somewhere in the process means that the pigment is not produced, and the flowers remain white.

Indian paintbrush flowers are diploid, which means they have two of every gene - one from each parent. Even if they only have one of the functioning allele, R, the flowers will be red, because white is merely the absence of pigment, not a pigment itself.
Reply:with the genotype of Rr, the phenotype would be red flowers
Reply:dominant allele refers to a genetic feature that hides the recessive allele, so red.

White flowers with thick dark green leaves??

For valentines day my boyfriend got me 3 potted plants from wal-mart. 2 i know are tulips, but the 3rd i've no clue. It has really pretty white flowers with 5 petals that kinda make it look like a butterfly. The leaves are sorta rounded heart shaped, very thick, dark green color. He said they had them in pink and a purplish color too, Anyone know what these might be?

Chromoplasts, in the traditional sense, are found in coloured organs of plants such as fruit and floral petals, to which they give their distinctive colors.

This is always associated with a massive increase in the accumulation of carotenoid pigments.

The conversion of chloroplasts to chromoplasts in ripening tomato fruit is a classic example.

Leucoplasts are a category of plastid and as such are organelles found in plant cells. They are non-pigmented, in contrast to other plastids such as the chloroplast and the chromoplast.

Lacking pigments, leucoplasts are not green, so they are predictably located in roots and non-photosynthetic tissues of plants. They may become specialized for bulk storage of starch, lipid or protein and are then known as amyloplasts, elaioplasts, or proteinoplasts respectively. However, in many cell types, leucoplasts do not have a major storage function and are present to provide a wide range of essential biosynthetic functions, including the synthesis of fatty acids, many amino acids, and tetrapyrrole compounds such as haem. In general, leucoplasts are much smaller than chloroplasts and have a variable morphology, often described as amoeboid.

Extensive networks of stromules interconnecting leucoplasts have been observed in epidermal cells of roots, hypocotyls and petals.

Dose white flowers have special pigment?
White flowers have a chemical makeup that reflects all colors of light, so you see them as white.
Reply:What the others have said is good but some flowers have markings that we humans can't see but that are visible in the UV spectrum and can be seen by insect pollinators. So special pigments can still be present (but don't have to be).
Reply:Generally speaking, when we talk about pigments in flowers whether they be some type of cyanin or whatever, the white color comes from an absence of the pigment rather than a special form.

Why breeding strains of sweet peas having white flowers crossed?

#1) A white-flowered iris was crossed with a red-flowered iris. Both were true-breeding. The F1 progeny were all red. The F2 progeny were 145 red and 15 white. Suggest a genetic explanation and test it with a X2 test.

#2) Two true breeding strains of sweet peas having white flowers were crossed. All F1s had purple flowers. When the F1s were self-crossed, the F2 generation progeny were 875 with purple flowers and 725 with white flowers.

What are these white flowers growing on this tree?

My grandma's neighbor has a tree that is about fifteen feet tall or so, and there are these white flowers that have sort of a ball shape, but also look sort of like miniature crabapple flowers. The flowers themselves smell a little like lilac, but are completely white. Does anyone have any idea what kind of tree/flower this is; they are gorgeous, but no one can figure out what they are.

What are these white flowers growing on this tree?
My guess is Viburnum. There are eleventy-billion kinds of viburnum...but they all have white flowers, and they all smell really great...and some are snowball shaped clusters.

"Pearl white" dress and white flowers?

My wedding gown color is "pearl white." I've always loved white flowers better than anything else but I think it would really annoy me if the flowers looked brighter than my dress. So I found a bouquet of all vendela roses that are the same color as the dress. What do you think...is it too simple? Most white bouquets seem to also have orchids, callas, stephanotis etc.

"Pearl white" dress and white flowers?
I think it's beautiful and classy! The only thing is it wont really "pop" against your dress, but if you don't want it to I think they're perfect

Maybe just a little greenery would make it stand out...if that's what you want...was just a suggestion..I'm doing a similar bouquet to yours and having just a few light pink roses(what my girls are wearing) put into it

Reply:That's abosoleutly beautiful. It is great as it is but if you add more color it would be a little more stunning and eye-catching. But if you leave it as it is than it is simple and elogant. Either way it is classic and beautiful. Also maybe vary the flowers for more contrast and beauty (like lliacs or lillies and daisies). But it's your wedding day and you need to be in charge. I know it's stressful but i'm sure it will be gorgeaous in the end. Congrats on finding true love and i wish you the best on your wedding day and the rest of your life with your loved one.

Photographers advise that white on white is hard to photograph.

It looks really classy and elegant in person, but think about your wedding pictures.

If you will be annoyed and worried about the flowers looking brighter than your dress, you need to make another choice.
Reply:Beautiful, but your gorgeous bouquet will fade against your gown and especially in photos. Work in blue /green fabric or greenery to match your bridesmaids dresses. Visit local florists with a picture of your bouquet and ask to see seasonal greenery . Remeber that flowers can be dipped to be any color.
Reply:Well, the bouquet that your link goes to contains multi-colored roses, including some peach-colored ones, but even if that is not the case, I frankly think this: You would be better off having a bouquet of all peach-colored roses, I simply adore peach.
Reply:Its too simple for me, but if its too simple for you, you can buy inexpensive pearl decors that go between the flowers.

I think really, the only person who can answer this question is you. Do you think its better than a bouquet w/ other flowers in it?
Reply:There are many brides carrying bouquets of a singular flower. There are no rules that the bouquet HAS to have a mix of certain flowers. Go with what makes you happy.
Reply:I was advised to stay away from white flowers next to the white gown. They are never the exact same color, and one will make the other look more yellow.

Sorry :(

Good luck, and Congratulations
Reply:You could include ribbons to wrap your boquet that match the color of your Bridesmaids gowns. Also Bridal White Flowers are not quite as bright as Pearl White

What other plants ,flowers, trees look good with white iceberg roses?

i love Hydrangeas. try the pink %26amp; green mix with the white iceburg roses. i'm into vivid colours in the garden. the white will offset the colours, and the colours will break the menotony of the white. unless your pallette is softer then try yellow or light pink impatiens underneath. mumms are even spectacular this season!!!

heres a few links for companion gardening, happy planting

Flower Carpet Roses look great planted with low growing or spreading Conifers - particularly those with golden or blue/gray foliage - and Dwarf Cypresses for height.

Reply:Ostrich ferns! A fantastic combination! Yes, Ostrich ferns will grow in full sun if watered regularly.
Reply:Almost anything looks good with white. The iceberg is inclined to grow quite tall, so I think I would choose an evergreen shrub behind it to give it a contrast when in flower and to give some architectural stability to the area. Lots of choices there, depending on your preferences and the space available.

Does anyone know what kind of flowers the white ones are in this wedding bouquet?

Here is the link to the picture in question:

Does anyone know what kind of flowers the white ones are in this wedding bouquet?
I don't think they are stephanotis. The stems make them look like some sort of lily. They may be agapanthus or hosta flowers too. It is difficult to tell from the picture.
Reply:No, not stephanotis, petal are too long and pointed. They are lilies, just which one I'm not sure.
Reply:Definitely not stephanotis. Could be type of lily, or even a fancy type of white iris. Hard to tell as so many squished together in the bouquet. If you could get a picture of a single one, would be more helpful. I worked in the floral industry for 8 years, and picture is hard to tell.
Reply:My guess would be that they are "Miss Lucy" lillies.
Reply:Stephanopolis [ not sure of spelling - not a florist! ]

What flowers would look good with a black and white wedding?

My wedding colors are black and white. I was going to have white roses but I think maybe they would blend too much with my dress. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What flowers would look good with a black and white wedding?
Red...
Reply:I think practically any color would look good with black and white....But for goodness sake, DON'T use black and white flowers!!!!! (Unless you are trying for a spooky, Adam's Family look!)

I shot a wedding a few years ago (as the photographer) where the bouquets were also black and white, with black ribbons. Yuk! And all the decor was b %26amp; w, with no spots of color at all. Maybe good for that certain Gothic look, but not so great for most of us.

So have a third color, even if you just use it a little bit.
Reply:I think the deep red roses with the deeper red stripes would be awesome! I've only seen them in the fresh flower department of Wal-Mart though. Maybe you could buy the flowers there and take them to your florist and have them do something with them. Or maybe your florist can find them.
Reply:Lavender orchids all the way.
Reply:Punch it up with a brightly colored flower of your choosing. Or slide into elegance with a orangish peach or silky lavendar. (I personally would probably opt for the lavendar- b/c its relation to the royal purple ties into the sophistication of black and white)
Reply:red roses
Reply:tropical flowers or colored tulips that will pop out from everything else.
Reply:bold RED.

think of those anne gedes pictures in black and white and the only thing in the picture is red...red flowers or red lips....

its dramatic and romantic.
Reply:I think a combination of white roses and stargazer lilies would be gorgeous if you carried a boquet with stems to add some contrast. Florists do some beautiful arrangements with a ribbon tied around the boquet and the stems below in their natural state. You can also do a mostly white arrangement with some small flowers of another color, like red or blue, mixed in for contrast so they don't blend into your dress in the pictures.

My colors were white, silver and cornflower blue so I had a mix of white roses, stargazer lilies, irises and bachelor buttons. It looked amazing and they photographed well with my white dress.
Reply:I would strongly suggest staying with the white roses. First of all, it is your first pick. Secondly, if the entire wedding is black %26amp; white red or some other color is going to look out of place. You can pull the white roses with some greenery to still give it the punch it needs. I put a few in the sources for you to look at and consider before changing your mind.

It sounds to me like you have a very elegant, classic theme going. Stick with your gut - you're doing it right.

Congratulations %26amp; good luck!
Reply:red roses would be perfect!
Reply:Try pale pink roses. Or maybe pale yellow ones.
Reply:you could do white orchids since the greenery from the leaf and the stem plus the yellow of the center would stand out against the white in the party. you could also try a pale yellow color
Reply:Silk flowers that are black.
Reply:I think white calla lillys would be beautiful and very elegant and unique!!!
Reply:What's wrong with Red Roses - I think that would be fabulous with black and white.

Happy Wedding :)
Reply:I think deep red roses would be beautiful!
Reply:I would say pink or red roses..nice contrast!
Reply:I think red would look the best. They'd be vibrant and stand out.

For something more subtle, a light, almost baby blue would be very pretty as well.
Reply:I think you need to stay classic, I suggest red roses or a mixed selection of red flowers. Lipstick roses are one of my favorites. I would suggest red bouquet for the bride...nothing worse then white flowers with a white dress 'cause you can't see them. The groom would have a red boutonniere. Then could use white with bridesmaids and groomsmen since I would guess they will be in black and use red centerpieces for the reception. Just my thoughts but think this would be beautiful with a black and white wedding.
Reply:i would go with a bold color for the flowers-red roses are standard but beautiful
Reply:baak%26amp;white flowers
Reply:hhhmm...I wouldn't do the white roses either. That would be a little much. There are several colors you can use though. Check out some flower sites to get ideas. These ones had some beautiful roses:

Reply:it depends if you want something bold or not , I always think when you have black and white then a bright color really makes things stand out like red or yellow
Reply:Cala lilies, or ivory roses with a hint of color at the edges would be lovely. I had the Cala lilies, they are white, but looked spectacular with my gown, as they had some greenery in there. They are SO sophisticated and understated and would gor great with black and white.
Reply:A simple bouquet of red roses would be perfect. Especially if it is the only splash of color in the ceremony.
Reply:EVERY color goes with black and white.

What color are your eyes? What color looks good against your skin?

Think about your very favorite sweater or top. What color is that?

Does your fiance have a favorite top that you wear? Try using colors because YOU love them. Not because they happen to match something.

Sage green, peach, pink, red, yellow, coral, bronze, lavender, periwinkle, pale blue- anything works with black and white.

Take a black cloth napkin and a white one and go to the best florist shop in your town. Ask them if you can go into their cooler where they keep ALL the flowers and hold up the napkins near the different colors. One of them will stick out for you as the most beautiful of all. And the florist may be the perfect person to make your bouquets.
Reply:light pink, hot pink, or yellow.
Reply:black and white, red all over
Reply:roses, red will accompany the colors well

Looking for the name of a tree that is thin, tall, has white flowers in clusters (like wisteria)seen in IN.?

You are definitely talking about a Black Locust tree. They grow along the roadsides here in Illinois too. If you get a chance to look at one close up you will notice very large thorns on the branches, and the leaves are fern-like, that is a Black Locust. Blooms are off white and much smaller than wisteria, but pendulous like wisteria. They grow wild all over Illinois.Click on this link and you will see what I mean,

Looking for the name of a tree that is thin, tall, has white flowers in clusters (like wisteria)seen in IN.?
I have read the answers of the others here and none of them seem to be what you are describing. I am a horticulturalist and familiar with the species suggested do far. Based on your description I am gonna guess the tree is Catalpa speciosa.
Reply:That would be the black locust tree.Robinia is a native tree of the US.,they bloom fragrant pea like flower clusters in the spring.
Reply:I'm betting your seeing crabapple trees. We have them growing wild in Indiana, the birds "spread" the seeds. They can bloom white to deep pink, depending on the variety of the tree...the birds don't care!..lol. If your seeing it along fence rows..well, birds set on the fence and "do their thing!"..voila! trees in a row.
Reply:I am fairly certain that what you are describing is the dogwood tree. Here are a couple of sites that you can visit to have a look at a dogwood.

When does it flower?

When you say like Wisteria, do you mean the flowers hang like grapes?

One flower is randomly taken from a vase containing 5 red flowers, 2 white flowers, and 3 pink flowers?

FIND EACH PROBABILITY. P(RED OR PINK)

One flower is randomly taken from a vase containing 5 red flowers, 2 white flowers, and 3 pink flowers?
Despite having flowers being picked from a vase, this is a Mathematics question, not a Botany one... ;)
Reply:All probability is is the chance for one event (a specific color to be chosen) out of all possible events (the total number of flowers).

So the chance to get a red one (there are 5 red flowers) out of all the flowers (10 total) is 5 in 10, which can be reduced to 1 in 2, or 50%, or 0.5 (all are different ways of writing the same thing - use whatever format you do in class).

Now that you know how to do this, you can do the pink and white yourself.

Are all bluebells blue? I have plants wityh small bell shaped flowers but some are white and others violet!?

Bluebells are of the family scilla.Wild bluebells are usually blue but some of the cultivated versions of scilla can be different colours, pink.white and various shadesIf you look in a horticultural book or manual or look on the web you will see the varieties ther are.

Are all bluebells blue? I have plants wityh small bell shaped flowers but some are white and others violet!?
I remember reading that the university (I think it was Texas A %26amp; M) had worked on having different colored blluebell, they were able to create some white and some reddish colored ones. So they may be the varigated one that you have.
Reply:i have white and pink
Reply:In the UK the native bluebells are being taken over in some places by the Spanish bluebell, which looks the same though has a slightly larger flower, and also comes up in different shades of blue through light blue and lilac or pink. And very light pink verging on white.

I have some white bluebells too - they are most definitely not snowdrops!!
Reply:Hi!!

No, all bluebells are not blue. That's the common name for the family of flowers, Campanulaceae. There are other colors, like you mentioned. Also, there are some that change colors as they mature and fade. Note, I'm talking about the originals: wildflowers. I'm sure there are other ones you can purchase with even more variety.

Part shade to full shade perennial grows in zones 4 to 8.

Heuchera 'Obsidian' (Coral Bells) - http://www.perennialresource.com/index.c...

Part shade perennial grows in zones 3 to 8. Darkest of the Coral Bells with nearly black foliage %26amp; white flowers.

Sambucus nigra 'Black Beauty' (European Elder) - http://www.springmeadownursery.com/black...

Large shrub, grows zones 5 to 6, light pink flowers (Not technically a white flower, but very close to black foliage).

Is there a plant with black foliage and white flowers?
There are no black plants, although there are some black fungi.
Reply:Ophiopogon planiscapus Nigrascens - Black Ornamental Grass . About 6" to 8" high with little white flowers.
Reply:There is a variety of oxalis that has very dark leaves and white flowers. That's the only thing with the combination you're looking for that I know of. For just black foliage, there is a type of taro that has black leaves (they might call it balck elephant ear at the nursery) and some nearly black varieties of coleus.

It is a bush, right now has small white balls and when it flowers it only smells at night. what is it?

In Spanish, they call it a "huele de noche" or a "smells at night". I would like to know what it is called in English so I know how to take care of it.

It is a bush, right now has small white balls and when it flowers it only smells at night. what is it?
I have one similar to what you are describing that is called a Night Blooming Jasmine. Smells really good, and the little white flowers are pretty... too bad they only show up at night!
Reply:Huele de Noche is night blooming jasmine. Whew - are you lucky - we only dream of those up here in Detroit Gardens.

Here ya go....

http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/2128/
Reply:Cestrum nocturnum or Night Jasimine. The small slender white flowers emit a vanilla perfume at night time. Often the plants will develop white ball shaped seed pods.

They are very easy to grow from cuttings and are a very fast growing plant,

They will grow in full sun or part shade.

I am having a wedding with only white and deep purple any one know what flowers are best?

my wedding is a deep plum purple, i do not like lavender or fuscia colors so i am stumped as what to use. i look through web sites but always see the same old thing. i have not decided on real or fake i am open for anything as long as it looks good. the wedding is very elegant, and i want it to be reflected in the flowers also.

I am having a wedding with only white and deep purple any one know what flowers are best?
Cala Lillies

Roses

Iris/Flags

Stephanotis (white only, smells heavenly)

Daylillies

Orchids

Jasmine

Tulips

Gladiolus

Hydrangeas (for table decor only, they will wilt in bouquets as they need constant water)

Greenery

Ribbon
Reply:this may sound crazy but check it out....i plant monochromatic bulbs in my garden every year and this year i did purple and white. Think about tulips....I grew these tulips that were so dark purple they were almos midnight....and next to the creamy white of the other tulips they looked even more brilliant. If you choose tulips, (make sure you check all the different types...there are some that have flame shaped leaves, and some that look like roses) tell your florist to 'wrap them high'....they will open really fast and the florist tape will help keep the blooms high. Then, with the really dark purple and white, you could add some lavender without it being overpowering.....good luck and have a GREAT wedding....
Reply:Dark purple flowers eh? In a lot of species they call the very dark purple ones 'black'. Knowing that might help you looking for your colour...?

Helpfully for you, many flowers that have 'black' varieties also have white ones.

These are some that you should be able to order from a florist. Most of them come in all sorts of colours, so you'd have to be specific when you arrange your order;

Calla Lily; very dark purple, also come in white

Gladioli; very dark purple, also white

Daylily; dark purple

Iris; very dark purple, also white

Lisianthus; dark purple, also white

Delphiniums; white (through blue to darker blue- think possibly even dark purple)

Anemone; beautiful. if a little small. Also come in white

Sweet William: small, scented, dark colours and white.

Statice ( I personally think this stuff is horrid dry looking and scratchy... but each to their own)

Aster; kind of daisy, also white

and a few that might be trickier to source;

Buddleia; which might be tricky to get unless you have it growing in your garden or near to you. Smells divine and is a nice spire shape. Also come in white

Lilac; ditto tricky, but definitely has dark purple varieties and once again smells divine. Also come in white

Sweet pea; dark and beautifully scented

Hollyhock; dark purple

Petunia; come in very dark purple but isn't any good cut... maybe good as part of a table or other decoration in its pot?

if i were you I'd put any of those flower names into the search field on http://images.google.co.uk

with a colour description like 'black' or 'purple' and see what you like the look of.

best of luck :)
Reply:If you are looking for elegance in your wedding flowers then Calla Lilies are a good choice - their shape is perfect for elegant bouquet styles - try Calla Lily's Picasso or Purple Haze.

Roses are also a good choice for a classic elegant style bouquet - Blue Curiosa or Cool Water roses have a blue tone (try putting these names into google for these images then you can get an idea of what they look like)

Alternatively the modern style of the Calla lily combines perfectly with the traditional rose to create a contemporary classic - or for a more contemporary look perhaps you might like Vanda Orchids which are beautiful.

To add your unique style consider adding gorgeous ribbon or diamante to your wedding bouquet for extra wow factor.

Your florist should also be able to give you lots of ideas - make sure you let them know exactly what style you are looking for and take along pictures of what you like.
Reply:there are bright purple flowers that look like daisy's tha are nice and would look nice for yor wedding and also there are white rosees you can use or get the special painted with an aersol some places can do that. just choose the flower you want and they can aersol them on the ends and it will look awsome but it depends where you live there is also orchids in a colr purple those are really nice
Reply:Petunias come in purple and white and they smell great too!!!
Reply:I love Carnations. They aren't very expensive (always an issue) and they are hearty and sturdy for bouquets. They also have a very pleasing scent. To this day I still think of my cousin's wedding when I smell one. I was the flower girl some 30 years ago. Her colors were maroon and pink. Her wedding was very elegant, even in retrospect. You can get carnations in almost any color, and they look beautiful with roses, should you want to infuse a few into your bride bouquet with some baby's breath.

What color should I paint the bedroom walls? I have a white duvet with black flowers.?

This is what I would do....The wall where your bed is going to be against, paint it a vibrate red.....All your trim and ceilings, paint a bright white, and the remaining 3 walls, also paint them white....If red is too energetic for you, try painting that accent wall, a calming aqua blue.....Your duvet will really pop with an accent wall of color...Best of luck

What color should I paint the bedroom walls? I have a white duvet with black flowers.?
Paint the walls white and put up crown molding and paint it black.. It will be really modern looking.
Reply:red is a good color or paint the walls white, the ceiling black, and put little gold stars on the ceiling and you'll think you're sleeping in a field of flowers under the night sky. i had a room like this once and i loved it, and every once in a while, one of the stars would fall and I'd make a wish on it.
Reply:I'd go with light ecru or beige color which are calming colors
Reply:purple deep purple for high ceiling

frost purple (lighter) for lower ceilings
Reply:Paint it white with black flowers...unless you intend to ever use the room.
Reply:I would suggest a warm but neutral shade, something of an earthy tone.

Cream, heritage green, heritage red or even a calming lilac would look and feel good.
Reply:If you are open to being different, paint it in a red color. I always think red, black and white are cool. Otherwise tone it down with a nice sage color. I recently painted my bedroom with a paint on sale already premixed in a pretty coral and added sage, coral, and cream accesories like drapes, pillows, ect. It turned out great.
Reply:a silvery gray with purple hues.

Big Fat Awesome House Party- "Pick White Flowers" and Game Room??

Ok, this may seem like the dumbest question in the world, but hey, good answer and you get 10 points. WhooHoo.

So where is the Game Room? And where do you "Pick White Flowers" because that's one of today's chore things, and i'm guessing they arent with the white and yellow flowers all around the outside of the house...

Thank you!

Big Fat Awesome House Party- "Pick White Flowers" and Game Room??
The white flowers are outside around the house, they are the white and yellow flowers. To get to the game room you log on and go through the doors upper and to the left (the clock room), then you go to the right and through the door on the right wall.
Reply:You pick white flowers outside the house
Reply:yeah some people told me that before ! and it works! if you log in and go to your left then go up you will be in the game room!

The Meaning of Roses

3/4 of men say they would love to get flowers and most women love floral gifts as well. Now here is something you may not know: Color Talks! Although it is commonly accepted that all roses convey warmth and affection, the person receiving them may know and understand the meaning of roses colors and the symbolic message conveyed. It would be nice to insure that you are communicating the right message to that special person. Read on to find the meaning of the color of roses!

Black roses stand for the color of Death. Death of certain “set” ideas, thoughts, and beliefs. It signifies a major change in the future.

Purple roses stand for enhancement, magnification, opulence, majesty and glory and mean I will always love you. Lavender roses symbolize caution and the need to proceed slowly and carefully. Lavender roses also indicate a need for discretion but it is also becoming widely accepted as representing love at first sight and enhancement. Burgundy roses mean unconscious beauty. Lilac represents the first emotions of love.

Blue roses stand for fantasies, hoping for miracles, new opportunities and possibilities.

Orange roses indicate enthusiasm, desire and fascination. The orange rose says, "I am proud of you!"

Coral roses signify desire.

Peach roses signify desire, anticipation, sincere appreciation and optimism for the future. Pale peach roses are a symbol of modesty.

Pink roses stand for elegance, gracefulness, refinement, gentility, style and poetic romance but are combined with fun and light-heartedness. It is the rose of sweet thoughts and thank yous. Pink roses also signify gratitude, sympathy and appreciation. Dark pink stands for thank you, appreciation and gratitude. Light pink roses convey admiration, sympathy, gentleness, grace, gladness, joy, friendship and sweetness. The combination of red roses and pink roses stands for strong romance and passion. Dark Pink roses are symbolic of thankfulness while pale pink roses are a symbol of joy and grace.

Red roses symbolize romance, beauty, respect, courage, passionate love and unity and are the most popular of all roses. Red roses also stand for the creative spirit of love, the true love stronger than thorns. True red is the Lover’s rose. Amaranth red means long-standing desire, Cardinal red means sublime desire. Carmine means false desire (not true desire). Fiery red means flames of passion. Red rosebuds are meant to reflect the beauty of a young lover and mean “pure and lovely”. Red roses in full bloom say, "I love you still." Red %26amp; White roses together signify unity or togetherness. They are given when facing a challenging life event or to celebrate a strengthening relationship. Red and yellow blended means gaiety and loyalty, jovial and happy feelings.

White roses represent unity, loyalty, reverence, humility, love stronger than death, sincerity, purity, silence and innocence as well as youthfulness. Sometimes called the "flower of light," the white rose also means spiritual love and anticipation of happiness. White roses can also be used to highlight the message of the other rose colors. White (Bridal) roses symbolize a happy love. White rosebuds can also signify girlhood or “too young to love.”

Yellow roses signify strong feelings of pure joy, gladness, happiness and friendship, but were once used to convey jealousy. Friendship is the main meaning of the yellow rose but it also signifies familiar love and domestic happiness. Yellow roses also symbolize fun and freedom. Today, the yellow rose is used to embrace a new beginning, apologize or express sympathy, and to say, "remember me" , "I am sorry', or "I care." Yellow roses are appropriate for marking the beginning of a new life together or for starting all over again. A Yellow rose with red tip indicates friendship falling in love.

Pastel or pale blends represent sociability and friendship. And the meaning of roses in mixed colors - 'you're everything to me'. A mixed-color bouquet carries all of the meanings of each individual rose.

Rosebuds symbolize beauty, youth and a heart innocent of love or: “You are young and beautiful.” Withered white roses can mean either of two things: fleeting beauty or “you made no impression.” A withered red rose means "I would rather die...our love is over." Hybrid tea roses say “I’ll remember you always”. A single rose stands for simplicity and means you are the only one. In full bloom, it means “I love you” or “I love you still.” It can also symbolize love at first sight. Two roses taped or wired together to form a single stem represent a commitment, an engagement or coming marriage. They represent the mutual feeling that the bond between the two of you is inseperable and nothing can come between you. Six roses means I miss you. Seven roses signifies infatuation. A dozen roses means "I love you" and denotes gratitude for your presence. Eighteen roses means "I am sorry." Twenty-five roses mean congratulations. Fifty roses means unconditional love. A full rose placed over two buds signifies secrecy and a crown made of roses stands for reward or virtue.

So there it is, all the meanings, (well most of them) of the color of roses! The next time you give or receive roses, you will know what their colors mean. Perhaps you will find out something someone may have been trying to tell you all along or you may tell someone something without saying a word and all because Color Talks!

Black strapless sundress with white flowers and black patent leather shoes?? help?
Sounds beautiful..wear your hear up and add a silver clutch. I don't know where the flowers are located on the dress but do use jewelery sparingly you don't want to overdo.

Do show us a pic :o)

p.s. are the heels strappy or peep-toe..then shiny red toenails!
Reply:??? sounds good
Reply:Sounds cute where r u wearing it 2
Reply:don't worry girl it sounds great!!!! as long as the shoes aren't like boots or something.

that would be kinda punk rock though, if they were boots
Reply:http://wetseal.com/productdetail.asp?mi=...

is that it? if so, i think that outfit (especially the shoes!) will look great. I love patent leather. You should get a delicate, contrasting purse or one that really pops depending on your occasion.
Reply:I would wear a black strap sandals instead of the black patent leather shoes.
Reply:Perfect 10 baby!!!

wear that in front of me and you'll have me melting.

It's a good outfit.. wear it!
Reply:what exactly is your question?
Reply:I'm not sure what you want, but it sounds cute. You will look fine. However, you may want to add some jewelry.
Reply:weres the question?

sounds lovely
Reply:it sounds cute but the patten leather shoes sound a little to umm winter

try a lighter fabric or a sandal

What goes better with white skinny jeans, green stripes or yellow flowers?

i saw these really cute white skinny jeans and i need a shirt to go with them if i buy them.

What goes better with white skinny jeans, green stripes or yellow flowers?
It depends on your skin color and your hair. I would most likely say yellow flowers because the pants are white skinny jeans. Plus, stripes make most people look fat.
Reply:Every color goes with white but i like the green stripes better
Reply:it depend on the shirts

if it has horizontal green stripes they will make you look wide, but vertical stripes with elongate your torso

and the yellow flowers could look good if they are big but smaller flowers will just look out of place.
Reply:White jeans will be very practical and will go with many different shirts. Both that you mention would look cute.

It all depends on your mood and what you like. If you feel good in what you are wearing, you will look spectacular!
Reply:stripes
Reply:yellow flowers
Reply:I think yellow flowers would look better?
Reply:defintely yellow flowers
Reply:I think yellow flowers are a safe option. Green stripes can also look good if its alternate Green and white stripes.

Even with the yellow flowers...if the flowers are on white background it will look better:)

Happy shopping!
Reply:Neither, pink goes well though
Reply:green stripes, they make more of a bold and sassy statement
Reply:green stripes
Reply:the stripes definitely..its more clean cut...and complements the look
Reply:neither..
Reply:Green stripes. The good, sharp colours would look great against the crisp, white pants.

June
Reply:GREEN STRIPES =]]
Reply:depends on the shirt really. but id say green.
Reply:black and white top

but if i had to choose

green stripes
Reply:Yellow flowers.

also yellow n white look great!
Reply:if you're more edgy go with the stripes

if you're more girly go with the flowers
Reply:def. green stripes... im not really into flowers they tend to make people look very busy lol
Reply:i agree....yellow flowers is more mellow
Reply:if you can maybe use both tops layers are really in where i live
Reply:Green Stripes because flowers arent really in style unless u are under the age of 13
Reply:personally, i would wear them with green stripes.

the yellow will prbly get washed away with all the white
Reply:I believe that wearing white pants between labor day and memorial day is not right. It is a fashion mistake. But if you are buying them now for after memorial day then go with yellow flowers.
Reply:i would say both bout the same
Reply:yellow flowers
Reply:I think the yellow flowers would look cute, but it really depends on the shape of the top. Floaty tops look much better with skinny tops than tight t-shirts.
Reply:Yellow flowers
Reply:Definitely green stripes!

stripes and skinny jeans always look great together

What's the name of a flower, maybe called "bobeca" it's a tiny white flower that looks like strawberry blossom

This flower type is common in hanging baskets, it's just this dainty white flower with a yellow center and it trails beautifully in baskets. I would like to know the name of that type of flower.

Thanks.

Red flowers are dominant over white flowers in Indian Paintbrush. Predict the phenotypic ratio for a cross?

between two heterozygous parents.

all red

1 red and 1 white

3 red and 1 white

or all white

Red flowers are dominant over white flowers in Indian Paintbrush. Predict the phenotypic ratio for a cross?
3 red and 1 white

Reasoning

Parent "A" can give a R or a W

Parent "B" can give a R or a W

new plant can receive ...RR,WR,RW,WW

All of these give a red plant except WW.

Mendel made an analogous discovery in his pea plants, when he did his earliest experiments
Reply:3 red and 1 white

What offspring are produced from a cross of a heterozygous plant and a homozygous white flowered plant?

In snapdragons, the alleles for flower color exibit an incomplete dominance between the tw alleles (red,Cr,and white ,Cw).The floral color of a heterozygous plant is pink as these flowers have less red pigment than homozygous red plants.

What offspring are produced from a cross of a heterozygous plant and a homozygous white flowered plant?
One half will be pink, while one half will be white.

Using the Punnett square:

CrCw x CwCw =

CrCw (pink)

CrCw (pink)

CwCw (white)

CwCw (white)

I can't draw it here, so you'll have to draw it for yourself.
Reply:let's say red is R and white is W.

R W

W RW WW

W RW WW

so 50% pink and 50% white

What do you think about a black and white wedding with bright colored flowers???

Im not going for the goth look, i just loved the contrast of the two colors and i personally feel that baby blue and light greens are a little too eastery for a wedding and since my wedding is in April these are the more popular colors. Im not too crazy about pastel bridemaid dresses. I will have an all white wedding dress and my bridesmaids will have black dresses with a white sash. Any Opinions??? Thanks!

What do you think about a black and white wedding with bright colored flowers???
Hi and congratulations!

To be honest....any color goes at anytime as far as I'm concerned! Black dresses will look very pretty against some bright colored flowers. You can do all one color....say PINK roses....PINK tulips....PINK gerbera daisies.....or a mixture of any of these flowers with other colors! I happen to think pink and black look very stunning together.

It would also look very nice with the small sunflowers -- bright yellow!!

I think your look is elegant! Good luck!
Reply:What about black, white and pale blue? Maybe your bridesmaids could wear a light blue sash with their dress. You can also vary the color combinations to not make it look like an Easter basket. Champagne and light blue would be a nice color combination.
Reply:I think it would be gorgeous!!! Just make sure you have BRIGHT, eyecatching flowers!!!

http://www.noriravi.com/Thumbnails;jsess...
Reply:I think that sounds like a nice idea. I think it would look good, and it wouldn't look gothic as long as everyone was holding bright flowers. I especially like the white sash idea. Maybe you could also make sure the bridesmaids will have some other splash of color, like earrings or shoes or jewelery. And your fiance should wear a brightly colored tie that matches the flowers.
Reply:I did this same thing (minus the white sash) for our recent October wedding. The wedding was outdoors and it was in the afternoon. Everyone looked great! Not gothic or funeral-like at all. We had wildflower bouquets that were all sorts of colors and they just looked wonderful with the black dresses--really vibrant. I think your plan sounds great! I'm not crazy about pastels either. Good luck.
Reply:Your colors sound fine...IF and ONLY IF it is an EVENING wedding in April...a daytime wedding in those colors in spring...hmmm...well you COULD...but make sure the bridesmaids don't look like its a funeral...add some white accent to the black dresses...sashes?
Reply:I love it, I bet it will look great!
Reply:I think it's a good idea, one of my friends did that and she asked that all the people attending wear black and white as well, it was fun, and cute :-) it's your wedding so just do it however you want :-)
Reply:I went to a wedding very similar to what you want last year.

The BM's wore black dresses, all different styles to fit each individual body shape, and they carried hot pink, orange and yellow flowers. The colors really looked good together. And I liked that idea. It saved money for each BM too because they could find a simple elegant black dress that fit then and there (no alterations needed) at their favorite store in the mall for $50 rather than spending a fortune on a BM dress that costs $300 with alterations and everything.
Reply:I think it'd be beautiful. You can do whatever color combination you want! You dont even have to stick to two colors... you can just have BURSTS of colorful bunches scattered about. (I'm thinkin about the floral arrangements that they have in the lobbys of large hotels... with the funky Paradise flower thing) Thats lovely!!
Reply:Keep the bright flowers the same type and it will look great. Majority roses, sunflowers, etc in a rainbow of colors will look smashing.
Reply:That sounds really pretty. I love the contrast of black and white and I think it can look so classy. If your wanting a bright color to throw in the mix, I would definately go with pink-light or dark. This could work with all of your smaller details. Maybe a hint of pink in the bouquets or even a pink ribbon around the stems. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Reply:i think the brightly colored flowers will make everything look absolutely gorgeous. you can pick any colors you want!

i chose to have a navy blue bridesmaid dress for the same reason. i hate pastel colored dresses. and i am getting married in july.
Reply:I talked to my florist ta few days ago and he was talking about the most beautiful wedding he had ever done was all black and white and then the bridesmaids had deep pink roses I think? Anyway I agree with Nancy as long as it is in the evening it sounds beautiful.

Good Luck!
Reply:I had a wedding in April that I went to and it was black and white. Of Course it was night time and the flowers were one Long stemmed red rose. It was beautiful. Good Luck
Reply:Your wedding colors do sound very formal and would be wonderful for an evening wedding. I've seen a wedding like this with red roses as the flowers. They made the whole event seem very gothic. I've also seen this done with bright pink lillies. This looked really beautiful. I think that orange would also be lovely. I had an April wedding with pastel colors, but I do understand that this isn't to everyone's taste.
Reply:Love It!!!!!

I get what your saying about the pastels and such. However, I think bouquets w/ pink, peach, champagne and ivory colored flowers would look Fab w/ your black dresses.

The flowers will definitely POP against the black. Also, your dress will appear more crisp white, next to the black contrast.
Reply:well that is gothic
Reply:You can choose any color flowers you want. They will all go great against Black and White! how about some vibrant hot pinks, and orange?

Best of Luck and Congrats.
Reply:My wedding is next month, and my colors are ivory, pink, and black. The flowers and centerpieces are going to have different shades of pink, and my bridesmaids are wearing formal black dresses. It's going to look so pretty! You could even do lilac as the accent color as well.
Reply:I vote for red! Because, like someone else said, your colors are formal and I think that will keep it formal.
Reply:DO ANYTHING YOU WANT TO. It is your wedding and as long as your hubby to be is down with it....do it.

I never have understood why the men are all in black while the women are in colors anyway......(no jokes about cuz the men know what a death sentence they are entering into.........)

DO IT DO IT DO IT. And don't worry about what anyone says---you can't do that for an afternoon wedding, you can't do that for a spring wedding bla, bla, bla----------just do it. It's YOUR wedding.
Reply:Absolutely Beautiful... Go for it!! Use pastel pinks and purples.
Reply:if your wedding is in April them duh make it Easter colors and your bridesmaids needed different colors not black
