Looking for the name of a white flowering bush, with a real spicy scent?

very pretty bush with tons of little white flowers, with a strong spicy scent...prunes and shapes to a very pretty bush, seemed very hardy since it faced the north...sometimes bloomed more than once...never knew what it was, but moved before I could find out what it was...

Sounds like a Korean Spice Viburnum. Picture at source. There are so many families of bushes. Really just need to search through books, catalogs, etc til you spot it. Without a full description of the leaves - leaves us all guessing. Am going by scent on my pick.
Reply:That sounds like a gardenia. They have a wonderful perfume, dark green shiny leaves, and make a great shrub. They require an acidic soil, and lots of humidity. You should be able to get them from any reputable nursery in your area. Enjoy!
Reply:could have been a mock orange (philadelphius virginalis). did it have large or tiny leaves?they have a sweet and citrusy scent.
Reply:jasmine?
Reply:what zone/state was it growing in? Any more info that you can provide to properly id the shrub?
Reply:Sweet olive?
