Getting married Black&White theme need help with flowers, red to bold.?

I am wanting to have a very formal classic romantic black and white wedding and having trouble picking my flowers, I want the flowers to be really subtle and not bold and carry them through as my table centres. Any ideas as I need help???

Getting married Black%26amp;White theme need help with flowers, red to bold.?
I am having black and white also for my wedding June of next year. I went to the florist and was going to do red roses (my favorite) as the accent color. After picking everything out and thinking about it for a few days I called the florist to talk to her again about changing my flowers. She told me that red is pretty, but way too bold and dramtic. We changed the color of flowers to a hot pink rose called an Orlando rose. It is very beautiful! My arrangement and decorations through out the church will have this rose and a pink tiger lily along with other flowers of course.

I would not do yellow....something about yellow is not a wedding color. White is beautiful but sort of plain. Red is going to be dramatic, but is very in right now, a soft pink will be too light and delicate....so that leaves the color of hot pink roses. Most florists will have a rose book with close to a hundred diffrent shades of all roses and their names so you can check out the different types.

I am a rose person so I am sorry to push roses.

Whatever you chose it will be beautiful!
Reply:I'm doing black and ivory also. Black bridesmaids dresses and ivory and green flowers. Classy and simple.
Reply:Red roses are always classic...

Perhaps you could suggest a deeper shade of red rather than a bright true red. Something in between red and burgundy that way the flowers don't stick out too much. This rose (as you can see there are lots of different red roses on this site) is called black magic and is a deeper shade of red.

Reply:Hey there - I'm getting married in 2 weeks and our colors are black and white too. Our room is very historic and elegant, and our linens are white with a black banding around the top. Bridesmaid dresses are black JCrew cocktail dresses, and the men are in black tuxes, white shirts, and black ties/vests. Our flowers are brilliant fall colors - the yellows, reds, rusts, oranges, etc. I think the colors are an awesome contrast to the black. Our table centerpieces are also very bright - yellow spider mums, deep red gerbera daisies, and some coffee hypericum and pitt greenery. Funky and bright, yet still sophisticated. Even if you opt to go for just red as your accent color, I would definitely consider it to be formal and romatic! Go for it!!
Reply:I know red is the most popular answer but... How about a burnt orange colored flower or pinkish...purple?

Like an Oriental lily I included a page that has photos of many different colors...
Reply:If you do use Red make sure that the brides flowers have the most Red in them than anyone elses...you dont want them to be confused with the table settings. Perhaps pink and red for the table settings and Totally Red for the brides flowers.
Reply:for my wedding i was going to chose black red and white ..with my flower being red, but the red was to much for my reception ..it didn't go. a dark plum color would also look great. it is romantic and very rich and elegant looking and it is a twist on the red, black and white. u could have purple listanthus flowers, or purple ranclusus. this would loook great.!
Reply:i know RED flowers/roses will come out bold. It would go really well with black and white

after all B%26amp;W and red is classic. So i would say go with red roses. Nothing can be more romantic

by the way, congratulations for the wedding :)

god bless!
Reply:I think red is the perfect color for a black/white wedding. It will make things less somber and the color pops. If you do a light color, it will not offset the black and whit e(cause both colors are bold). Yellow is a good choice, too. I would def do a bolder color.
Reply:Our theme was black and red, and we used red and white roses for the bride, and red gerberas, and white roses for the b/maids, was a nice look.

Reply:White or cream roses would be ideal for a classic, formal wedding. They are gorgeous and would go very well.
